I walked back over to the doors unlatching only the left latches this time, and ran out into a heavier downpour than I had been in before. It took three tries but I got the shutters secured. One of the old iron catches had broken off but I was able to rig it back together. I turned and ran back into the cottage, repeating the locking of the latches.
