Neuroplasticity: changes that occur in the brain as the result of experience. Thursday, July 31, 2008. Similar to Greg Mortenson building a bridge to overcome his first obstacle into Korphe (See: " Three Cups of Tea. More info on this blog later), Emmanuel Leina needs to build a bridge. This is the only connection between the main roads and Sirua Aulo Academy. Well, except for the one massive suitcase of books I brought. Checks should be mailed to:. 5100 S. Dawson St., Suite 202. Seattle, WA 98118. Linda...

Neuroplasticity: changes that occur in the brain as the result of experience. Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Discouragement and Schindler's List. I've hit that point in time where I feel discouraged about how much more needs to be done and how little time I have left. I'm also losing patience with the increase of both the temperature and my insect bites. The first makes me feel guilty for leaving and the second makes me feel guilty for wanting to leave. Copied below is the entire message Summer wrote to me.

Neuroplasticity: changes that occur in the brain as the result of experience. Friday, May 21, 2010. Barzakh Falah in Georgeville, Cayo District, Belize. Barzakh Falah was established in June of 2008, to address the pressing needs of abused, abandoned and at-risk children living in Belize. An important component in this is the ongoing development of a sustainable and self-sufficient organic farm and its integration into each child's education and maturation.". From the Village Volunteers. I'm so excited t...

Neuroplasticity: changes that occur in the brain as the result of experience. Thursday, May 27, 2010. Any doubts* I had about coming to Belize quickly dissipated when I met my host family. Barzakh Falah is run by a married couple, Jaime and Nancy, who rank among the top people I admire, respect, and find inspirational. They have 2 children of their own with 1 on the way (i.e., any day now! And are raising 3 adopted children, each who had been deemed "unadoptable" by the authorities around here. But I can...

Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Hope in Hopeless Crisis. As a dark cloud overwhelmed my thoughts, I started whispering. Find me a guitar I lament for you my agony,. Find me a microphone I voice my sorrows. Find me a pen I narrate for you a story that rip my heart apart. Find me time I tell you how helpless I feel. Helpless as I listen to the woman cry for her murdered child. Helpless as I watch her weeping in front of her raped daughter. Helpless as I see her finding comfort on her husbands grave. Hope th...

Saturday, August 25, 2007. China's loss, should be Africa's gain. The news has been plagued by massive recalls of sub-standard Chinese made products. I think this is good news for African producers (producers in Africa). With intelligent marketing and massive investment, we can take over business that is wary of being associated with China. this is an opportunity we shouldn't miss out on. Your thoughts? Posted by Marcus Garvey. Wednesday, August 22, 2007. Or is it as you put forward, “what's missin...

Neuroplasticity: changes that occur in the brain as the result of experience. Sunday, August 24, 2008. Dago welcoming their visitor: Part 1. Well, as per usual, things started much later than scheduled and it was all very informal. I gave my camera to Edwin to record for me. I told him that the microphone picks up best at 3 feet or so from the speaker and he took it to heart! He walked right up to all the speakers/performers and was almost in-their-face which made them shy away even more hahaha. Some hav...

NeuroplasticTravel: Overdue Update!
http://neuroplastictravel.blogspot.com/2014/08/overdue-update.html
Neuroplasticity: changes that occur in the brain as the result of experience. Monday, August 18, 2014. In lieu of wedding gifts, my husband and I requested donations toward the building of a special education classroom in rural Kenya. We were married on May 25, 2013, and secured enough funds for Sirua Aulo to begin construction of the building the following month. We spent our honeymoon in Kenya in September and saw the building in mid-completion. In the meantime, there still was more to be done! Sirua A...

Wednesday, January 16, 2008. The mouth of my pen is dry. The ink is shy and the paper untempting. The tears of the nation have drowned my spirits. The fires and fears have imprisoned most. The bullets ringing in the night ushered in the new year. Screams of pain and death rang through the midnight hour. And As Kenya bleeds, as our motherland burns. The powers that be dance on our heads and emotions. The powers that be call on outside mediators. While the problem lays within the very soul of Kenyans.
