Silver Lady in service. Oct to Dec 2009. When I saw on the Classic Buses website that a Bristol L bus (specifically a LL5G) was for sale, I was immediately tempted to go to see it. The Crosville single-deckers were always, (in my opinion) handsome vehicles and I remember them from my schooldays in Liverpool, operating in Chester and North Wales. All of which are probably true. So I bought it. Tony offered to get it delivered to Dean (an offer I thankfully accepted! A first To-Do List. 2 Improve front end.

Silver Lady in service. Oct to Dec 2009. First job was to complete the fixing of the new offside wing. Some juggling was required before it looked good from every angle. Then the cab-floor could be tackled. The cab seat came back from the upholsterer looking very smart, and was fixed back in the cab. From Bedford I collected the first seat from another upholsterer. I had bought moquette on Ebay - not the same pattern as the original, but I hope the end result will be pleasing. Support for front wing.

Silver Lady in service. Oct to Dec 2009. Oct to Dec 2009. After 2 hours of struggle, and the cautious application of some heat, the exhaust drops free from the manifold and can be examined. As well as various hairline cracks, there is a large hole! No wonder I am getting fumes in the cab. The heater pipes are fixed with new radiator hose, and the whole radiator system should now be water-tight! I add some water. No obvious leaks. I start the engine, and can detect no fumes in the cab. Silver Lady in service. Oct to Dec 2009. The first job was obviously to transport the coach to the farmyard location I was renting in Dean, Bedfordshire. I chose low-loader rather than suspended-tow. More expensive, but kinder to the vehicle. Rob Masters of Wellingborough did a fine job. Once in place, I removed all seats from the interior and stored them (temporarily) in my ex-LT DMS. I had previously thought of leaving the painting of the bus until after MOT, but on reflection I decided that I would have more chance of getting through the inspection if the vehicle looked smart and well cared-for.
