Located on the pier front you will find a host of information about Rousay; from history to geology to bird life to farming. The building also houses the waiting room for the ferry, a shower and wc.

The Egypt of the North. Walking is one of the best ways to experience Orkney. Voted favourite activity by web visitors in 2004, exploring on foot combines the pleasures of the senses, and an intimacy with the environment which many visitors find so fulfilling. Birds and wildlife abound, and in Spring and Summer the verges, cliffs and hillsides are carpeted with delicate but determined wild squill, grass of parnassus, thrift, birdsfoot trefoil, eyebright, and the rare primula scotica amongst many others.
