12 element yagi for 2m used at home in March 2011. Shack in the shed. The temporary operating location in the shed used in the JMMFD and in the QRP hours contests. Computer came in handy for checking the rules. The FT817 next to it was the radio used for the QRP contest, running 5 watts output into the 80m dipole. In 2010. It is very small and quite light. The antennas at the Yass property, as set up for recent operating events, April 2011. The dish has a future role on a microwave band above 1296 MHz.

VK1FAAS SOTA Adventures
For my first solo HF activation I chose a local summit Tuggeranong Hill. It will be a chance to test out all my new Yaesu 817nd and my SOTA Beams linked dipole. To see what this mountain radio stuff was all about my XYL (wife) accompanied me. After a short drive we reached the access road to the summit near a power substation in Theodore at around 10:00 (00:00UTC). The peak was a short 25 minute walk along the access road to the summit with great views towards the Brindabellas including Mount Tennant.

Friday, March 25, 2011. Chris Carroll VK1GG/2 jams V31GB. Chris Carroll VK1GG/2 jams DX Station V31GB on 7163 at 19:16hrs on 25 March 2011. Mr Carroll was caught jamming the above frequency, while VK's were making DX contacts with V31GB on the V31MM Dxpedition. His deliberate jamming was recorded and tracked to his home in Michelago New South Wales. His deliberate interference has been under the watchful eye of the ACMA now for sometime.
