Meliisms: February 2008
http://meliisms.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 2, 2008. I know why the grass is greener in Lubbock. In any case, I took a mental note of the greenness of the grass and proceeded to do my shopping. When I walked back to my car, I discovered a grounds worker diligently spraying green paint on the parts of the grass that hadn't yet reached that lovely spring green hue. Apparently, this green is indeed not natural, but painted. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Alexandria, Virginia, United States. View my complete profile.

Meliisms: December 2007
http://meliisms.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 27, 2007. Christmas with the Boys. Finally, Anna and I had Christmas with Jeremy and Jacob. We always have fun with them! My second Christmas was at Anna's house in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mom came down from Raleigh. I think she was a little surprised that I gave her so many chili pepper accessories for her kitchen- -I guess I've spent too much time in the Southwest! I LOVE the new cycling jersey I got! We get a little crazy playing games in my family. Christmas with Dad and Beth.

Tuesday, March 25, 2008. Big Bend National Park. Over spring break, I went camping in Big Bend National Park, which is located right along the big bend of the Rio Grande River. It was an amazing and restful trip. Here are a few pictures:. Santa Elena Canyon. The bluff on the right is in the U.S. The bluff on the left is in Mexico. The river is the Rio Grande. I hiked up along the U.S. side of the canyon.gorgeous! Near a formation of slick rock called the "window". A beautiful late afternoon sky.

I love this picture of Eliz and Simone! I love columbines, too! Dinner with good friends was the perfect ending to my birthday. If only I didn't have to go home! Happy Birthday to you! You could always come celebrate in CO - we could invite some of your friends over, have a chocolate fountain, etc. Just a suggestion. Happy Birthday to Me!

Thursday, June 5, 2008. I would take a picture, but I don't know where my camera is at the moment and don't feel like looking for it. In any case, the morals of my little story are these: Don't give up on finding the perfect purse. Don't settle for less. And remember that the perfect purse might not be quite as you imagined it to be! Andrea, MPA, JD, MRS. Thank you, oh Sage, for you wisdom. *bowing in humility*. June 6, 2008 at 8:49 AM. http://meliisms.blogspot.com/2008/07/machu-picchu.html
Monday, July 28, 2008. We ended our trip with 2 days in Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu. Seriously, these ruins are so much BIGGER in person than you can possibly imagine from a picture. Visiting them was one of the vacation highlights of my life. If you would like to see additional pictures from my trip, go here. Cuzco to Salkantay Pass) or here. End of trek) or here. Machu Picchu). Meliisms: Trek Across Salkantay Pass
http://meliisms.blogspot.com/2008/07/trek-across-salkantay-pass.html
Thursday, July 24, 2008. Trek Across Salkantay Pass. After Cuzco, our group drove to the beginning of our 7-day trek. We spent anywhere from 2 1/2 to 7 hours hiking each day, and reached 15,300 feet above sea level. I think I understand a small part of what pioneers must feel, except that I had a warm bed and good food to eat each night! A pretty lake we hiked to as an acclimatization hike:. At the top of the pass:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Alexandria, Virginia, United States.

Thursday, July 17, 2008. My last hurrah before starting work in August was a trip to Peru. I have dreamed of hiking in the Andes and visiting Machu Picchu for years, so I decided to just GO. I took my trip through REI Adventures. It was really well organized. I highly recommend traveling with a group like this. In any case, here goes the first installment of the travel-log. I met my group in Cuzco on July 17:. What a cool trip! And great photos by the way. You make me want to go there someday. Trek Acros...

Meliisms: On My Way
http://meliisms.blogspot.com/2008/05/on-my-way.html
Wednesday, May 21, 2008. I am on my way to the East Coast. I felt like a giddy school girl yesterday when I set out from Lubbock, and I heehawed to my sister on the phone when I crossed from Texas into Louisiana. Today I gave another hurrah as I crossed the Mississippi. By tomorrow I will be with family in North Carolina. It feels great to be heading back "home"! May 21, 2008 at 9:06 PM. Have a good time, and enjoy the beautiful East Coast! May 22, 2008 at 7:59 AM. Sounds like a lot of fun!
