Wednesday, December 17, 2014. NCAA Women 2014: Wrapping Up the Regionals. My Conference-Adjusted Combined Offensive-Defensive (CACOD) measure successfully predicted the winners of 11 out of 12 matches. In the NCAA women's Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight. Only in the Sweet Sixteen win by No. 14-seed Nebraska. CACOD = 1.72) over No. 3 Washington (2.23) did a team with a lower CACOD beat one with a higher one. Unseeded BYU (1.99) knocked off No. 6 Florida State. 165), then followed up by topping Nebraska.

http://volleymetrics.blogspot.com/2013/12/my-simple-prediction-equation-for-ncaa.html
Thursday, December 5, 2013. My Simple Prediction Equation for the NCAA Women's Tourney. For any match in the NCAA tourney, the team with the higher value on my measure would be expected to win. My formula did about as well as other, more complicated ranking formulas. I'm not going to do a full-scale analysis for this year's bracket. 1 Texas. (.295/.174) (1.20) = 2.03. 2 Penn State. (.312/.134) (1.25) = 2.91. 3 Washington. (.282/.192) (1.25) = 1.84. 4 Missouri. (.362/.170) (1.00) = 2.13. This blog is not ...

Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Ranking the 64 NCAA Women's Teams on the Conference-Adjusted Combined Offensive-Defensive (CACOD) Metric. With the NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament. Scheduled to begin play on Thursday, I am unveiling my second annual ranking of the tournament teams on the Conference-Adjusted Combined Offensive-Defensive (CACOD) metric. Though the CACOD is extremely simple to calculate (see below), it held its own. Another reason, I suspect, that the CACOD appears to work well is ...

Here's a photographic image of one of my articles (which you can click to enlarge). That was then. This is now. He described volleyball as often involving "...

Sunday, July 5, 2015. Loyola-Chicago Retains Men's Title in Epic Final. I'm two months late in writing about the NCAA men's final, but an unintended benefit of the delay is that I was able to take the picture to the right, on the Loyola campus during a late-June trip to Chicago. Notice at the bottom of the three-story banner (displayed on a parking structure) that it lists both the Ramblers' 2014 and. As opposed to a relatively easy four-game victory over Stanford. In both of these matches, though, the R...
