Play in a Mayne Island Junk Band: Wed Aug 12. The Mayne Island Recycle Society is hosting a Musical Instrument Workshop for kids of all ages, which will be conducted by the talented Pam Carr. Musical instruments, made from recycle materials, will be used by these kids in the Fall Fair parade on Sat. Aug. 15th. Wed, August 12th 3:00 pm. Recycling Depot 390 Campbell Bay Road. Forests and Fungi: Aug 1 and 2. Join the Conservancy on Aug 1st and 2nd for a walk and talk with Andy Mackinnon. Andy is a botanist and Research Ecologist with the Ministry of Forests, Land and Natural Resources and co-author of the much referred to Plants of Coastal British Columbia. He has studied a wide range of topics, including native plants, fungi, and forest ecology. Andy will be giving a talk at the Community Centre on Saturday, Aug 1st at 7 pm followed by a forest walk on Sunday, Aug 2nd at 1 pm.
