Internet Vet. - The Owls Approve
http://www.theowlsapprove.com/2015/08/internet-vet.html
While I still cringe every time I see some stupid what-do-I-do post on OTTB Connect, I still want as much knowledge as possible. Fortunately, the best response for those people is the same response I've given myself and my vet is due out Friday. Until then, though, I've been joyfully googling myself into a tizzy. Because my raison d'etre lately seems to be insanity. And I'm worried that Archie has developed either Recurrent Airway Obstruction. Or Summer Pasture-Associated Recurrent Airway Obstruction.

The Jumping Percheron: Glass Half Full
http://jumpingpercheron.blogspot.com/2015/05/glass-half-full.html
Friday, May 22, 2015. DISCLAIMER: If reading about trucks and mechanical stuff bores you (and it shouldn't if you are a horse person) then feel free to skip over this until the next post. The Beast (a Dodge 2500) and my trailer on one of our recent outings. It almost sounded like a rattle in a can of spray paint, but there was another more metallic rattle that sounded like a loose heat shield somewhere. See that steel wool looking stuff? Yeah, you're definitely NOT supposed to see that. We got home and I...

August 2014 - The Owls Approve
http://www.theowlsapprove.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Today will be our sixth ride back. While I've said that he doesn't seem to have lost a lot of fitness, I'm also still trying to take it slowly. I'm not so good at that. My goal was to gradually increase the workload until our ride time and distance were approximately the same as it had been before he had a three week vacation. And once we reached that, we'd start jumping again. I miss jumping. Even our baby cross rails and verticals. Miss. Obligatory stellar-quality video stills:. Not 100%, but I think a...

My Life on Horses: Sickness Brews and Beju Bear
http://mylifeonhorses.blogspot.com/2014/02/sickness-brews-and-beju-bear.html
Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Sickness Brews and Beju Bear. For almost the past week I had been pretty sick. My head was throbbing, I had a fever (which I hadn't got in forever! A cough that killed my throat, my eyes for some reason were in immense pain and looked like the eyes of the devil, I was almost too weak to stand, dizzy too, and nausea was always keeping me from eating. I literally spent days in bed barely getting up. But now I can finally get around again despite a foggy mind. What a nice gecko!

My Life on Horses: A Fun Start
http://mylifeonhorses.blogspot.com/2012/03/fun-start.html
Sunday, March 25, 2012. First I want to say I LOVE YOU CHRIS COX. Okay, now that I have that out of my system I will get on with my post. Ava and I had a fun and relaxing week. All thanks to Chris Cox and Rick Gore for helping me train myself to become a better horsewoman. Ava went from a bucking unfocused maniac to a calm little pony I can ride out of an arena alone. Just two pictures before we went on our ride, look how calm she is! What a good girl! March 25, 2012 at 8:41 PM. Love a grey horse!

The Jumping Percheron: Mochi Meets the Ocean
http://jumpingpercheron.blogspot.com/2015/08/mochi-meets-ocean.html
Friday, August 14, 2015. Mochi Meets the Ocean. Yesterday I took Mochi to the beach. It was her first time, but I knew she'd take it in stride like anything else we do. She is such a brave little horse. Not too concerned with the waves anymore. She was kind of like ok, ok I get it. Whatever. The first tide pool she went through was pretty funny. She took a look at it, went to cross it and once she was in it she was kind of surprised, you could tell she had no idea what to expect. I think she was ...And o...

The Journey to 100 Miles: Expenses
http://fit2continue.blogspot.com/p/how-much-does-it-cost.html
The Journey to 100 Miles. One day in April 2013, I came up with the crackpot idea that I wanted to condition myself and my horse to go from loafing around in the arena and toodling around in the fields to finishing the Old Dominion 100-Mile Endurance Race. This blog is about our journey. One-Time (or slightly more than one-time) Expenses. Saddle Pads $50-130/pad (I have at least 10 pads and this isn't counting the sheepskin half pad I don't use.). Board $400/mo = $4,800/yr (Holy Crap! Have Fun Storming t...
