A Walker's Ramblings: September 2014

http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Monday, 1 September 2014. Last year was perhaps a record for coastal walkers, with several people walking the coast in one go or in sections. However the last couple of months have been fairly quiet. David Higgins finished his walk in July, meaning Peter Hill. Was left attempting the coast in one go. He can be followed on Facebook. And he has a fundraising page. The best of luck to him. A Walker's Ramblings: July 2014

http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Thursday, 24 July 2014. In February, part of the railway line at Dawlish was destroyed by the sea. Some heroic work by Network Rail and its contractors saw the line reopen in April at a cost (to the railway) of £40 to 45 million. However that work left longer-term questions about the viability of the coastal route, especially if sea levels rise as expected. Campaigners favoured various options:. BCR) This is a calculat...

http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Thursday, 17 April 2014. Modern communications and disasters. The tragic sinking of The Sewol yesterday off the coast of South Korea has led to many sad stories, not the least of which are the text messages sent by people - many young - trapped in the ship. As it tilted and sank. So what might have happened? 2) Text messages are not designed for reliability of data (*). They only display the time they were received...

Background

http://www.britishwalks.org/walks/Named/CoastWalk/index.php

2002 in Edinburgh I started a 5,500 mile walk around the coastline of the UK to raise money for the Riding for the Disabled Association. By the time that I finished the walk the mileage had crept up to over 6,200 miles, a figure that I am more than pleased about. This walk finished on Saturday September 27. P2002A010010 Starting the walk. P2002A230051 Myself standing on the Humber Bridge. For details of the last day of the walk around the coast, see walk 567 (Walk #567: Muirhouse to Edinburgh Castle).

http://ramblingsofamadoldbaggage.blogspot.com/2015/05/child-of-mine.html

Ramblings of a Mad Old Baggage. What it says on the tin. I'm a woman of a certain age and therefore by default must be a mad old baggage. Maybe he felt my glimpses because too soon he was gone. And then the tears rolled down my face, slowly, silently. The pain in my heart solid like a rock. The longing to hug you and hold you, a physical pain almost renting my body in two. I miss you Son.
