Walking Circumspectly

Friday, May 30, 2008. Making the Impossible Possible. So, I am going back to work. Once upon a time, even the thought of having to do that struck terror in my heart. I always said that my child would never go to a daycare and assumed I'd be able to stay home. My vision for family life did not include my working. The reality of my situation, though- financially, mostly- slowly changed my mind over the course of many months. My Ideal and my Real weren't lining up. The truth is that I have had sixteen month...

Walking Circumspectly: Thought I'd Dropped Off the Planet's Face?

http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2008/04/thought-id-dropped-off-planets-face.html

Sunday, April 06, 2008. Thought I'd Dropped Off the Planet's Face? Still here. Still breathing. I really have missed this. I'm in the middle of one of the toughest parts of parenting yet (and, of course, a controversial part, wouldn't you know it? Sleep training. Are you up for my saga? I promise to give you the Reader's Digest version. Then the baby starts getting older. Like, say, 14 months old. Then a couple of things happened. I read Weissbluth's Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. It dawned on me that.

Walking Circumspectly: October 2006

http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 18, 2006. The first thing that pops into my mind. Do you really want to know this stuff? Does, because she tagged me with her Four Word Meme. I have to tell you what comes to my mind with these four words she's given me: encumbered, lofty, exaggerate, and bowel. Yep,. Is it just me, or when you hear or read certain words, do little pictures come into your mind that kind of illustrate that word? I think of this scripture:. Doesn't that sound easy? Again, a word picture in my mind. "...

Walking Circumspectly: I think I am ready to come back

http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2007/06/i-think-i-am-ready-to-come-back.html

Thursday, June 28, 2007. I think I am ready to come back. After a long absence, I think I am ready to start posting again. It's been a crazy five months- heck, a crazy year! And I've been going through a bit of a tough time since Noah's birth. For a long time I felt emotionally paralyzed and unable to communicate, especially in writing (even if I'd had the time, which I didn't). I'd like to say I am out of the pundit business, but that's probably not true. Heh. This blog might be pretty choppy from now o...

Walking Circumspectly: Update on Us, and Some Random Schtuff

http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2008/04/update-on-us-and-some-random-schtuff.html

Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Update on Us, and Some Random Schtuff. I wrote a while ago about our family's struggle with Noah's sleeping habits. I am glad to report to you that things are so much better now. Noah wasn't one of those kids who started falling asleep on his own after one night of just 15 minutes of crying or anything (! But after a couple of weeks, he's sleeping through the night. We were interrupted by a cold that, naturally, changed the game plan for a time. At Ben and Jerry's. Heck YEAH!

Pursuing the things of God. Thursday, May 18, 2006. Katie and I have a deal in our house that when she cooks I wash the dishes. Afterall, she has spent several minutes playing with a son who loves to tug at her leg while she prepares a meal for our family. She should not have to worry about the dishes when she is done. So in my best husbandly fashion I taking to task. Posted by Katie&Roddy @ 1:28 PM. Monday, May 08, 2006. I Want to Leave a Legacy. God saw it fit to take Lauren home, much to our objection...

http://pursuethis.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

Pursuing the things of God. Tuesday, September 19, 2006. Would you consider yourself to be a good person? I think most people would probably say they are. They would justify this by saying that they try to do things right and have done more good than bad. And in an age of. Who knows what good even means? Jesus was once approached by a young man. No one is good- except God alone". For surely I am a good person. Jesus' standard for Good is the Law given in the Ten Commandments! Have you ever told a lie?

Pursuing the things of God. Friday, August 25, 2006. Reading Someone Else's Mail. Have you ever read a note that was not intended to go to you and found it really hard to understand what it was talking about? I know that around my office there will often be post-it notes that are not decipherable to anyone expect for me. I know what the content is and for what purpose it should be used. But how exactly are we to handle God's Word if we do not understand it? John 1:12 "Yet to all who received him, to thos...

And I think my wife deserves the title of Super Woman for what she had to endure on her way down to Brazil. You cannot stretch out, get up, or even make your bladder gladder. Discussion about making and walking labyrinths. December 21, 2014. A Place of Balance:. Integrating both the darkness and the light. The making of a labyrinth in inherently a humbling experience…. that’s me on my knees.
