http://alcapaunlimited.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Friday, 27 February 2009. Trying to regain little normality, so here is the Friday photo, three in fact, taken last year at the Albert Dock, Liverpool. Wednesday, 25 February 2009. Keep Calm and Carry On. Tuesday, 24 February 2009. Off to hospital tomorrow, beds permitting. Will update in a few days, hopefully with good news. Friday, 20 February 2009. This week is not a photo, it's a link. This is Nia. Whilst on the subject perhaps anyone who hasn't yet done so would consider signing up to give blood.

A life unlimited: Back on crutches.
http://alcapaunlimited.blogspot.com/2010/01/back-on-crutches.html
Wednesday, 13 January 2010. Em took a tumble on the ice and damaged her knee (the one she's had surgery on). So after a lovely afternoon (and well into evening) in A&E she has a whopping great bandage on and is hobbling around on crutches. The world and his wife (and his kids) were in A&E. You have time to ponder whilst there. For example - why do they have a sign that says 'Waiting time 1 hour' when it's a dirty great lie? Oh no I hope Ems leg isnt too sore for too long, I have to agree wih all you said...

A life unlimited: Snow!
http://alcapaunlimited.blogspot.com/2010/01/snow.html
Sunday, 3 January 2010. Didn't walk yesterday as it started to snow quite heavily but it dawned bright and cold this morning so we've been out for a good couple of hours walking the canal towpath and over the golf course; even took photos to prove it! I do hope you are wearing your vest. But with regards to thermal recommendations, Im doing very well this year. Do you know, I havent even worn my vests yet? I think Im moving too much. This is the problem. 6 January 2010 at 16:22. Gorgeous pics :O) Xxx.

A life unlimited: April 2008
http://alcapaunlimited.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 8 April 2008. A cuddle at last. Being able to hold her in my arms was wonderful. If you've ever heard the phrase 'my arms ached for her' then I can tell you that it. Almost a physical pain. Thursday, 3 April 2008. Wednesday, 2 April 2008. Taken shortly after the heparin incident. You can see what a state her arm was in. Tuesday, 1 April 2008. I didn't realise the significance of it at the time - I assumed that they did this for everyone but it was only when we were leaving PICU some weeks later ...

A life unlimited: May 2008

Friday, 16 May 2008. Finally we made it to the ward. Not far physically - PBG ward which was right next door to ICU in the old Children's Hospital - but it was a massive step forward and I did finally start to relax a little and believe that I would bring her home eventually. And the bald patch on the side of her head where she had a line in after all her other veins gave up the ghost. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). But as often happens I went off on a tangent. Stories from the saddle of my bike. Day 3: Haapsalu - Kärdla - Sõru. The next ferry was scheduled for 11.30, so I bought my ticket and spent the next hour having coffee and charging my battery pack in the terminal. The day in numbers: 98.29 km, 4 h 25 min 44 sec, 22.19 km/h avg, 34.3 km/h max. Tour total: 246.90 km. Posted by Thomas Soininen. View my complete profile.

Gore Bike Heart: 2007-08
http://gorebikeheart.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Stories from the saddle of my bike. Last saturday was race day, and I was on the starting line of the 6th ever, my second, edition of Nykarlebyloppet. Just like last year, the pack was lead by a pace car on a short prologue through town. The start and finish had been moved, though, to the fairly recently refurbished sports center Stjärnhallen. My official, though not quite accurate time: 2h 17m 50s. Timed distance: 73,6 km. Average speed: 32.0 km/h. Top speed: 51.8 km/h. Posted by Thomas Soininen. Pyöräi...

Gore Bike Heart: 2008-04

Stories from the saddle of my bike. First road club ride 2008. Last night I was on my first roadie club ride of the season. Once again, due to construction work, the route. Has been changed this year. And, once again, Kaharinvuori just east of Rusko proved too much for me at the speed the chain gang. Was going. It's not a big hill, not even by local standards. Still it's steep enough for me to drop well behind the others this time of year. Club ride: 62,36 km, 2h26m4s, 25,62 kmh avg, 45,6 kmh max. Nine r...

A life unlimited: June 2008
http://alcapaunlimited.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, 19 June 2008. Fast forward.for a moment. Ok - so whilst this is really a 'historical' blog there may be the odd foray into real-time for relevant updates. Confused? Today we had an appointment with Emily's orthopaedic surgeon. The upshot of today's appointment was that the wounds are well healed, she's fully grown and is as good as level. Discharged. Success! A life unlimited: October 2008
http://alcapaunlimited.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Friday, 3 October 2008. I've rather neglected the blog haven't I? It took me years to start it and now it's only half told. Still, it got it out of my system for a while. I'm back because Emily went to Birmingham for an MRI this week. It's not something she was looking forward to but she did so well. It was a very long scan, with lots of breath-holding. The machine is very claustrophobic and noisy and it's not something she wants to repeat so I hope the pictures are in focus! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
