Indulging in the delights of spinning, dyeing and weaving, soap making and gardening. We just returned from a visit to Portland Oregon. Our son is the coffee bean roaster at Upper Left Roasters. This was our second visit and I can attest that there is never a dull moment in that part of the country! We saw some mind boggling wildlife. In Astoria we saw at least 300 sea lions who park themselves on the boat slips and won’t be budged. Noisy barking creatures. Who needs Sea World? Sea lions Astoria OR.

Fine Handmade Walking Canes. The first cane I made was a gift for my father-in-law. It had a Cherry shaft and a Maple Burl handle with a black Gaboon Ebony transition piece between the two. The shaft is hand-turned on a lathe. The handle is of my own design, cut out with a band saw and router, with final shaping done by hand. The handle is secured to the shaft with a steel dowel screw.
