We walk and I fish for trout and grayling and this is what happens. Dogmersfield Park 12 April 2015. April 12, 2015. AA Hampshire and Isle of Wight Walk no 9 5.5 miles. Bright but very windy. Started in the very classy town of Odiham. Walked away through fields overlooking North Hampshire. Across the small stream, saw some deer here. A good gravel track through the estate. Then along a fenced track, passing a couple of geese. We think this is a greylag goose. Down towards Tundry Pond. Your email address ...

We walk and I fish for trout and grayling and this is what happens. Kintbury 5 April 2015. April 5, 2015. Footpaths for Fitness Walk no 9 5 miles. Easter Sunday and a pleasant morning. We stayed local, I’ve been in too many Bank Holiday traffic jams to go far! Started along the canal at Kintbury, lots of birds including this wren which was very vocal. We then saw this. Not sure about it, might be a male blackcap. Looking back to the bridge at Kintbury, the huge building on the right is the Old Vicarage!

In pursuit of spotties: Urban Variety

http://inpursuitofspotties.blogspot.com/2015/07/urban-variety.html

In pursuit of spotties. Friday, 31 July 2015. A dark trout from Sunday evening. Arriving at the river I was pleased to see clarity had returned with an increase in flow the river has been desperate for. Setting up with a Hends camou leader on my Lexa I headed towards the pool below a surface water outflow. I could see a number of dace, trout and the occasional perch and chub, nothing particularly big, the largest trout perhaps going over a pound. 2 August 2015 at 18:06. 8 August 2015 at 20:36. The Riverman Diaries: March 2014

http://therivermandiaries.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

I would love to live like a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.” John O'Donohue. Friday, 28 March 2014. Alchemy On The River Dore. After the experience of last week, a fruitless trip to the River Honddu, Tuesday's destination required a little more thought and consideration. The waters of the spring fed Honddu were bitterly cold and the river in parsimonious mood. A couple more weeks are probably needed before the place wakes up. But what to do in the meantime? Prosaic Welsh or Gau...

This trip had been booked for a few weeks and one I was eager to experience, myself and a couple of mates had planned a weekend fishing some of the lakes in the wilds of North Wales. Mick's Fly Fishing Diary. Fly Fishing on the rivers and streams of Mid-Wales and the Welsh Marches. Wednesday, 22 February 2012. The Molten Mono Method. Whilst watching a recent Davie McPhail tying video I picked up what I thought was a great way to attach a bead to the top of the shank of a hook as in the style of a Polyfitus Nymph. The idea that Davie uses on one of his many outstanding YouTube videos. 2 Whilst holding the tag ends in your fingers get a lighter and proceed to slowly heat the ends.

Mick's Fly Fishing Diary. Fly Fishing on the rivers and streams of Mid-Wales and the Welsh Marches. Monday, 23 July 2012. Back In The Land Of The Grayling. It's been a while since my last post and the last couple of months must rate as one of the most frustrating periods I can remember. I rely mostly on the weekend to get out fishing and for most of that couple of months the rain seems to have always arrived at exactly the wrong time to flood the rivers for the weekend. Mick's Fly Fishing Diary. Fly Fishing on the rivers and streams of Mid-Wales and the Welsh Marches. Sunday, 11 November 2012. River Irfon Finally Came Good. Another untimely downpour on Friday brought the river levels back up and out of action for any fishing on Saturday but as often with these Welsh spate rivers they do drop extremely quickly without further rain. 13 November 2012 at 11:32. Some good fish Mick. I had an hour or 2 on Saturday morning - quite the different picture. 29 November 2012 at 17:...

Mick's Fly Fishing Diary. Fly Fishing on the rivers and streams of Mid-Wales and the Welsh Marches. Tuesday, 6 November 2012. Redington Sonic-Pro Zip Front Waders. I had all but covered my old waders inside and out with Aquasure in an attempt to get some extra mileage out of them, but with winter looming and the realisation that maybe they had just come to the end of their life I recently bit the bullet and started looking for some worthy replacements. Having now had them for a few weeks I can report tha...

http://micksflyfishingdiary.blogspot.com/2013/02/ok.html

Mick's Fly Fishing Diary. Fly Fishing on the rivers and streams of Mid-Wales and the Welsh Marches. Monday, 4 February 2013. OKI know I've been a little quite with blog posts lately but to be honest I've had little to write about. The last month or so has felt like a 'close season' with circumstances making fishing a bit of a rarity with only the odd occasion where I've had a chance to throw a fly into some flowing water. A deep fat grayling which registered 3lb on my 'little samson' scales. Missed the b...

Mick's Fly Fishing Diary. Fly Fishing on the rivers and streams of Mid-Wales and the Welsh Marches. Monday, 8 October 2012. Effort/Reward Ratio. Not Always Obvious. The last few years I've dabbled with casting the odd salmon line out on the off chance that I could be one of the lucky few who manage to connect with one of these magnificent migratory fish that enter the Wye system each year with just one purpose.to ensure the continuation of future generations. With only a couple of weeks left before the se...

Mick's Fly Fishing Diary. Fly Fishing on the rivers and streams of Mid-Wales and the Welsh Marches. Monday, 25 June 2012. The Wettest Draught On Record! At the back end of March I was posting about how many of the rivers I fish were in desperate need of some rain to bring the levels back up.well all I can say is - be careful what you wish for! The draught warnings imposed on many counties are a thing of the past and have been replaced by flood warnings making river fishing a bit of a lottery. Although th...

Where I walk and what I see. A Mash-up of Outings. October 30, 2016. A couple of weeks ago my walking group decided on the Storm Castle trail in the Gallatin Canyon. It’s 5-miles return, with 2,300′ elevation gain. The castle part of its name is derived from the rocky outcrop at the top which looks quite castle-like. Once back on the proper trail it all seemed easy-peasey…a walk in the park…in the after-rush of adrenaline…with great views up Gallatin Canyon…. 8230;up the Hyalite Canyon. This was about 6&...
