A bit of background:. Guns, Girls, and back hair, All gone terribly wrong…. The beer wagon, The stone, and the seat belt- An Experiment in automotive safety. January 30, 2015. No, Stupid- the rail dents and then you hit the flat part in front of you, and then you die! No, dummy- not if you’re good. Don’t call me dummy, idiot! And just like that, the fists would fly. By happy accident, Sam and I crossed paths again almost a decade later, and became fast friends a second time. Shortly thereafter, Sam&#...

The Tinker of Tunk Lake. The gun powder spill, power tools, and a broken dinosaur. November 16, 2013. Life is delightful here in the fortress. I figure it’ll take me several hundred hours. Which is why I’ve got the press set up in front of the projector TV. Because real Zen masters measure explosives while watching star trek and rocking out with Pink Floyd in a bathrobe. Reading that paragraph back to myself, I suddenly realize why I’m still single.). How hard can it be? Newer post →. Earlier in the year...

The Tinker of Tunk Lake. Shop-vacs, chainsaws, and lathes- oh my…. November 18, 2013. It’s been busy here. I’ve had to wear pants two days in a row. I went to help my friend Aaron today. We shuffled some boat trailers around and I ran my chainsaw for a while. And then I ran off to Bangor, where I had arranged to meet a retiring tradesman, who was selling off his tools. So- the search has begun for a used shop vac. Doesn’t that defeat the point? On the bright side, I won’t have to wear pants tomorro...

Harken to the Mournful Toll!
Harken to the Mournful Toll! Friday, March 11, 2011. Like our fluctuating interests in reality shows now, from Survivor to Top Model to The Bachilor, so was the changing interests in types of Melodrama of the 19th Century. The style always the same, as is the formula for reality shows, but the details changed to match the fickle audience and change in trends. The faithful dog jumping in to save a person. WANDERINGASIANGUY | Have camera, will travel.
Have camera, will travel. Of Mountains and Sands – Portraits from Nepal & India. October 5, 2014. A handsome local who rode up to our campsite to sell soft-drinks with his young son. A photo and scene that will stick in my mind for a long time. During our trek in the Annapurna foothills, a local village boy ran up to us and constantly begged for chocolates. Unfortunately we did not have any to give to him. Such luxury goods are highly prized by villagers in remote areas. Tourism in the Rajasthan region o...

My harry ass won't stay at home! Little place with ancient fences just outside of town on Smith. All started when we adopted a burrow and horse from the Bureau of Land Management back in late 80s. The horse was named Reno as he was from that area of Nevada. The burrow, Harry got his name well because he was harry as a shaggy dog. The two lived in town for the first part of their lives along with a mean Shetland pony and a jenny and a little one. The creek rises and the fences get washed out.
