A Meditation on the Art of Prep | Wandering With Us
http://wanderingwith.us/2015/05/15/a-meditation-on-the-art-of-prep
A Journey Through Life with Shannon and Mariel. A Meditation on the Art of Prep. May 15, 2015. May 15, 2015. Living in the waiting: staying present while looking forward. Waiting is a posture. Waiting humbles us and teaches us that we are not in control. Waiting is purging us of more than physical trappings; it purges our motives, our affections, our appetites and desires, and our expectations of how we think God should be working in our lives and answering our prayers. Posted in She Said. Address never ...

A Journey Through Life with Shannon and Mariel. A Little Hiccup on the Journey. September 9, 2016. And throwing massive yard sales! While giving up this job has left me feeling weepy and insecure, as though my little inner overachiever has been grievously diminished in some way, my inner hedonist is looking forward to sleeping in past 5:30 on Monday morning and getting back to work on the things that will further our adventure! August 28, 2016. August 28, 2016. Back to the present…. Our new boarder must ...

A Journey Through Life with Shannon and Mariel. Skunks Are Too Cute. October 12, 2016. Kinda like snow is really nice to look at… on TV (I’m not one who likes the cold at all); skunks are really cute when they are elsewhere. What I mean by elsewhere is “not in my yard or on my property”. I started this story as a Facebook post. But it has gotten bigger in my head. A full size blog seems to be in order. Here’s the background…. Maybe – 0, Skunk – 1. Shannon – 0, Skunk – 2. I borrowed a live trap. From my p...

A Journey Through Life with Shannon and Mariel. May 20, 2015. May 17, 2015. Silly, I know, but we also talk for the “kids” – our two dogs (Pi and Maybe) and three cats (Tasha, Elsie, and Suma). All of them have a lot of very intelligent, worthwhile and funny things to say. Meet Maybe (aka “Piglet”). So, Mom came home today with a big white thing on her foot and two extra sticks for legs. She should be able to run much faster now that she has the correct number of appendages! Dog is my co-pilot.

A Journey Through Life with Shannon and Mariel. July 15, 2015. July 15, 2015. I’ve been working on my family history since the 90s mostly through online research and help from other family members. But that can only get you so much! So, one of the things I plan on doing once we go full time RVing is travelling to where the family used to (and sometimes still) live. Shannon’s Family Tree. Off the top of my head, here are a few of the places I’d like to go hang out near:. Posted in He Said. I have had a fe...

Fayette, Michigan – Another Era. August 15, 2015. Our visit to Fayette (our second) was late afternoon on August 7. The weather was not cooperating, but we are not ones to let that stand in our way. Our rain gear served us well. However, after viewing our somewhat drab photos, we decided to try to go the ‘historic’ route and convert them to sepia tone. We hope you enjoy them! From left to right: the school, a middle class home, and the town hall. The second floor has a large performance hall, complet...

Tag Archives: North Country Trail. We’re still “Falling” for each other after 33 years! August 13, 2015. Thursday, August 6 was our 33rd wedding anniversary. We like to celebrate our anniversaries by going either hiking or kayaking, and this year was no different. We chose to go for a hike on the North Country Trail south of Ontonagon, Michigan. It is interesting to see how a trail like this is constructed. Even still, there were spots that the ferns were covering the planks. Further along, the planks ga...

The Wandering Wisconsinite
Not all those who wander are lost. Sunday, February 10, 2013. Almost an entire year has gone by without any words uttered by either Jesse or I on this blog. Over the past year, so many life decisions have been made and our life together is taking a new direction. We decided back in November that our time overseas needed to come to an end. Mixed feelings definitely abound while we try to rationalize with ourselves this incredible change of lifestyle. This last one may be my favorite of all. Is the most de...
