Due to the size of the motor, this vehicle will need to have three wheels. I plan to use the rear transaxle out of a 1985 Alfa Romeo GTV6 car for my trike build. This is an example of what it looks like (hopefully mine will look this good). It features a 5-speed gearbox, integrated clutch, independent rear suspension, and inboard disk brakes, all in a well engineered assembly. This motor will be running MegaSquirt. V357 mainboard with the Rev 1.1 Expansion Board. I used a first generation DSM CAS (Cam Angle Sensor) with a YashiFab. High-resolution trigger wheel to control the ignition. The optical trigger turns at cam speed when fitted inside a gutted magneto housing.

For this project I was able to locate and purchase a 1941 Kinner 5-Cylinder radial engine out of an old Navy Warbird known as the Ryan PT-22 Recruit. Shown here on my test stand (configured to run with electronic ignition and fuel injection under MegaSquirt V3), this Kinner R-55 is a 4-cycle, 5-cylinder, direct drive radial engine that saw commercial use as well as military duty (as the R-540-1 and R-540-3 models) through the 1930s and 1940s. I have Kinner radial engine parts for sale.
