The Royal British Legion. Chopsticks Memorial - The Peoples' Memorial Singapore World War 2. The Peoples Memorial stands across the road from Raffle's Club. It is known as the Chopsticks Memorial and honours the civilian population of SIngapore who died during the SIngapore invasion and occupation of the Japenese in World War 2. On four walls around the memorial is written the inscription in different languages denoting the various ethnic groups who died during that time. See our on-line bookstore.
