Emily's African Adventures: April 2009

http://www.wartburgid359.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 24, 2009. A few days from takeoff: Pre-trip thoughts. Everyone I've talked to who has been there has said that their trip there was one of the best experiences they have ever had, and I can't wait to see what this journey holds in store. That is more than the number of people who died on September 11th and more than the number of Americans who have died in Iraq since the beginning of the war. That's one person every 13 seconds! Emily's African Adventures: Thank goodness for Land Rovers, and people who can drive them

http://www.wartburgid359.blogspot.com/2009/05/thank-goodness-for-land-rovers-and.html

Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Thank goodness for Land Rovers, and people who can drive them. It's been a whirlwind of a few days, and unfortunately we have been disconnected from the internet so I haven't been able to share much, but I'll try to catch up. . When I chose the title for this blog, I didn't realize how fitting it would be. The adventures have been in high abundance, so I'll try to summarize them as well as I can. . Knock on wood) I'll continue to write as the internet access permits! I can't wait t...

Emily's African Adventures: A portrait only God could paint

http://www.wartburgid359.blogspot.com/2009/05/portrait-only-god-could-paint.html

Thursday, May 7, 2009. A portrait only God could paint. Africa continues to amaze. Every once in awhile I witness something so incredible that it's like God is trying to remind me just how great a mastermind He is. These last two days He has made that more clear than ever. If so they might be in for a surprise. Guess our team better start channeling our basketball roots. Tuesday at 5 PM is when it's going down. But there are many more exciting things to come, and hopefully more photos posted soon!

Emily's African Adventures: Habari ni Nzuri

http://www.wartburgid359.blogspot.com/2009/05/karibou-tanzania.html

Friday, May 1, 2009. Good news: We are in Tanzania, and all is well! We came back for dinner at 6:00, which was pasta, rice, beans, and papaya. We have had the rest of the evening free, with the exception of doing our Swahili homework for tomorrow. Wasn't expecting that! Probably should head to bed, it's after midnight here (4 PM there) and it'll be an early morning. May 2, 2009 at 5:56 AM. Hello Glad the first day has been great! We look forward to hearing from you soon. Love Mom and Dad.

Biblical Archaeology: Petra

http://wartburgid308.blogspot.com/2009/05/petra.html

Sunday, May 3, 2009. We began the day with a walk:. And ended up in an ancient city:. It was a great experience, although long: 6 miles round trip in and out of the valley, most of that being up or down hill. Wholly exhausting, but ultimately the most rewarding. We are back in Amman tonight, and tomorrow will see Jerash and then go to the border, get in a different bus with a different driver and guide, and go into Jerusalem. Friday, May 22, 2009. Bethlehem and the Burden of Knowledge. Hey Blog Readers, Josh here for the last time. :(. Well we are back in the U.S! The plane ride from Amman to Chicago was great and we split up from there to travel to our homes (or in some cases the Burg). The rest of our days we spent touring Bethlehem and talking with the locals, here are some highlights from our stay:. Our hotel was connected to Mitri Raheb’s church and a college! Sunday, May 17, 2009. On the Sea of Galilee. Hey Blog Readers, Josh here again! We have had an amazing week on the Sea of Galilee. But before we start- sorry that I haven't really updated the blog at all. Turns out I was only saving my blogs to the website and not publishing them for public view. So the previous blog and this blog are just a conglomeration of a few blogs that did not get fully published. She was in it! It was fun at first but it heats up really fast. Monday, May 4, 2009. I'm Joshua Stibb, the secondary blogger for the group. I see Amanda has done some posts already, I'll try not to recap everything she has said and maybe go a little more in depth into some of the individual sights we have visited and the reactions by the class members. We started off our Middle East Adventure in Jordan. Our first stop was at Madaba. There we visited St. George's church which holds the large mosaic map that, besides being pretty well preserved for over 1,5...We also v...

May Term Abroad: China

May Term Abroad: China. Thursday, May 14, 2009. I hope you guys haven't forgotten about me over the past few days, it has been a very busy time and haven't been near my computer much. Pretty cool, it is taboo to talk about what happened in 1989 there, but it was still a good experience. After Tiananmen Square, we came back to our hotel and relaxed. Today we went to the great wall of China! Monday, May 11, 2009. Here are some other observations I have made in my time in Hangzhou. Saturday, May 9, 2009.
