Wartime Sojourner

Sunday, April 24, 2011. I fall back again on the original premise of why I started writing about my experiences in the war zones: to record for anyone who’s interested what it feels like to go to war. I hesitate tonight because I am angry, and conventional wisdom says to do nothing in anger. Then again, if I am to capture the feelings of being in war, I should record this accurately as well. I’m not even sure why I am angry. Who were those men? Perhaps they had used the same computer I had when trying to...

Wartime Sojourner: Thanks For A Noble Country

http://wartimesojourner.blogspot.com/2011/03/texan-thanks-pine-mountain-georgia-for.html

Monday, March 28, 2011. Thanks For A Noble Country. A few months ago, I returned from Iraq. I was made to feel very welcome still far away from home:. I arrived in Atlanta early that morning, enroute to Texas. I had just flown 12. The idea that people live in a place like that seems beyond imagining. Yet our soldiers willingly go there and sacrifice life and limb to be there. While in Iraq, that notion seems as far off and ephemeral as the vagueness of Iraq seems when I am home. Thirty-three years ago, I...

Wartime Sojourner: Afghanistan Through a Muddy Window

http://wartimesojourner.blogspot.com/2011/03/afghanistan-through-muddy-window.html

Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Afghanistan Through a Muddy Window. March 13, 2011 – Camp Leatherneck - I flew out of here yesterday to visit a team at a subordinate unit, courtesy of our cousins from across the pond, and returned this morning by ground convoy, also courtesy of the Brits. Actually, it was a Scottish regiment that provided the ride today, and along the way, we stopped and visited with an Aussie field artillery battery. Afghanistan Through A Muddy Window. Wartime Sojourner: Crossing Paths With Alexander The Great

http://wartimesojourner.blogspot.com/2011/04/crossing-paths-with-alexander-great.html

Thursday, April 7, 2011. Crossing Paths With Alexander The Great. At any time, the MWR is in active use – Marines calling home. Ironically, here it is easier than in the larger FOBs. Without the large numbers attempting to access at the same time, connections are easier and faster. And, because they are constantly aware of those waiting, if a line forms, it moves quickly – our kids, sent to fight, and considering each other. April 8, 2011 at 7:12 AM. I felt ad if I were there. Good job :).

ABOUT AUTHOR LEE JACKSON

http://leejackson.wpengine.com/about-author-lee-jackson

Lee Jackson, Author Historical Thriller. Curse The Moon: Atcho Rises - Lee Jackson brings heat to the cold war! 8220;I am a convinced writer. By that I mean that I did not start out in life wanting to write. In fact, my fifth grade teacher paddled me to write the first composition I can remember. It was a short story, and wonder of wonders, people liked it! That made their way out to a wider group of friends, interested people, and eventually, the Pentagon. Many people requested that I compile them i...

War Story 5: A Veteran Applying For Seniors Travel Insurance. Posted on 2 August, 2015. A Veteran Shows Value For Second Life Through Seniors Travel Insurance. When people hear the title “veteran soldier,” they show admiration and genuine appreciation for the person bearing the title. This is because they are the few people who chose to protect the country, at the expense of putting their own lives in danger. Image Credit: independenttraveler.com. WARTIME SHAKESPEARE IN A GLOBAL CONTEXT

Article in Le Droit. Conference Photos (Day 1). Conference Photos (Day 2). Conference Photos (Day 3). What can the classics and, more broadly, theatre offer people suffering under the horrific conditions of war? How does culture (both as an anthropological and as an aesthetic concept) change in wartime? Are some aesthetic genres and modes more conducive than others in such a period? How effective is the imposition from above of aesthetic criteria or of particular works? The University of Ottawa, Canada s...

Wartime Sweethearts

Immediate download of 11-track album in your choice of 320k mp3, FLAC, or just about any other format you could possibly desire. Each To Their Own. I Am The Mess. With songs depicting aching melancholy to cheeky jazz serenades sung as a lusty inanimate article of clothing, Nutting’s lyrical style is impressively broad. The common thread through these musical adventures is her expressive and dynamic voice; her soulful vocals are highly palpable whatever the setting. Released 05 December 2010.
