The Water Cache Project - Pets
http://www.watercacheproject.org/Pets.htm
It is not uncommon for wildlife living near residential areas to come and visit homes seeking the water they need. So the prey animals, like bunnies and deer, head down to homes for a drink of water. And when they do. Their natural predators follow. And when they arrive, not only do they find their usual bill of fare on the menu, but any small pets they encounter are added to the menu. And if the adult animal is euthanized, it may leave behind a family unable to survive without the parent.

The Water Cache Project - Arson
http://www.watercacheproject.org/Arson.htm
Most wildfires in Southern California are started by humans, and hundreds are started by arsonists. According to CAL FIRE statistics, an average of 323 arson wildfires are started throughout California each year, burning nearly 17,000 acres on average and costing nearly $5 million annually to extinguish. An arsonist's greatest weapon is anonymity. By keeping wilderness areas under surveillance, The Water Cache Project's cameras can help discourage arsonists from setting wildfires in that area.

The Water Cache Project - Wildlife

Meteorologists have stated that Southern California is into a 20-year-long drought cycle. The impact of this on wildlife will vary by species, but will undoubtedly result in more animals searching for water. The Water Cache Project sites are designed to provide water for wildlife in wildland areas. And for animals who have lost their drinking holes to devastating wildfires, WCP sites will provide the water they need to survive.
