News & Blog. Whilst painting in watercolour has been described as a “truly English Art” There is a fine tradition of painting in this medium in Wales going back to the late 18th. Century. It is therefore surprising that it was not until 1959 that an Arts Society was formed to recognise and encourage the proud heritage of watercolour painting in Wales. News & Blog. Studied at Gloucestershire College of Art,. Cheltenham and the Royal College of Art, London. Griffin won the Anstuther Prize at the RCA and a prizewinner in the Laing Landscape Competition in 1997 and 1998. In more recent years, since the closure of the mines, he has turned to the rolling landscape in and around the industrial areas of the South Wales valleys for his inspiration and has rekindled his interest in the use of colour and paint texture generally in his work. News & Blog. Even when at Art School in the early sixties, I longed to be at the sea’s edge. My degree work then was of figures in big surf. Even now I’ve embarked on a series of work ‘water’ for exhibiting in 2008. rather like the Japanese masters who made life-long studies of the elements such as Fire, Air, Wind. I’ll be observing light on and in water, it’s surface tension, it’s movements; gentle ripples, to forceful surges, carried on a wind, falling from a rock. Royal Watercolour Society of Wales.

Garrod Roberts | Royal Watercolour Society of Wales

News & Blog. Although I have a background in sculpture, it is a sheet of paper that more often than not provides me with the freedom and space I require. Disparate sources can be collaged together, perspectives altered and any scale suggested without too much of a problem. My world of anxieties and pleasures, for what itâ s worth, can be hung out to dry on a scrap of paper. Royal Watercolour Society of Wales. Built by epm Marketing.

Watercolour Whisky

Single malt Scotch whisky art and reviews by Phil Betts. Try it if you like:. Heady raisin and chardonnay; vintage leather; what Lindsay Lohan was going to be; what Emma Stone is now*. Avoid it if you like:. Subtle and delicate whiskies; cold shiny hard plastic; trying to make ‘fetch’ happen. The anCnoc Vintage 2000. Is like Cady from Mean Girls. However, on the plus side it has a swank label design that I’m rather fond of, and, you know, actually, it’s Gaelic, so we cool. Starts out as a bright, amber-h...
