CSA: Week 2 | O Kansas!
https://wavingwheat.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/csa-week-2
Thou art mine; I am thine. 9 May, 2011. Tags: community supported agriculture. Well, I finished all the leafy greens that my Week 1 bag provided. That was a lot of salad. A lot. But I feel good, so it wasn’t that bad. Right And I just happen to have strawberries in the fridge, so this was made to happen. However, it will all have to wait until I see. Tomorrow with the husband. Waa waaaaa. And maybe I’ll bring my camera! Response to “CSA: Week 2”. Feed for this Entry. 10 May, 2011 at 1:07 pm. Fill in your...
Bare All | O Kansas!
https://wavingwheat.wordpress.com/2011/08/27/bare-all
Thou art mine; I am thine. 27 August, 2011. A few months ago, my husband and I started having weekly household meetings in order to help us organize ourselves better. Needless to say, those meeting went on for about two months and then stopped, partially because my husband insists on us meeting at 7 pm. on a Saturday, which is almost impossible to do when your weekends are spent catching up on your social life. I’m not saying that instantly I was like “I love my body! Response to “Bare All”.
On the Prairie | O Kansas!
https://wavingwheat.wordpress.com/2011/05/17/on-the-prairie
Thou art mine; I am thine. 17 May, 2011. Kansas Places of Interest. My partner-in-crime came into town on Thursday and Saturday we spent time together doing the things that we do when we are together. This mainly entailed going to the Farmer’s Market and the Kansas Road Trip! We went out to the Konza Prairie. Near Manhattan, KS and then out to Clay Center. What I ultimately loved about the Konza Prairie was the fact that it was in the Flint Hills. Actually being on the hills was marvelous as well, but I ...
Community Supported Agriculture | O Kansas!
https://wavingwheat.wordpress.com/2011/05/03/community-supported-agriculture
Thou art mine; I am thine. 3 May, 2011. Tags: community supported agriculture. My CSA subscription began on Monday. And now I have more leafy greens than I know what to do with. What’s a CSA subscription? There are different types of CSAs. There’s some that you can get solely through one farm; for instance, Homespun Hill Farms. Provides subscriptions for meats only (laaaammmb. omg! I got my subscription through the Rolling Prairie Farmers Alliance. On a side note, I’m toying with the idea of using ...

Poems About Oranges: February 2013
http://poemsaboutoranges.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Hi friends, family, and anonymous Poems About Oranges readers! But this blog no longer relates to my career goals, or to a lot of my interests. I still love reading, of course, but I post my reviews on Goodreads. And I still love baking, but I don't do much of it anymore because I've changed the way I eat. That's why I have decided to retire Poems About Oranges and move onto another blog project: In the Key of Vegan. I've been experimenting with vegan cooking. I hope that you come check out the new blog.

Poems About Oranges: July 2011
http://poemsaboutoranges.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
I'm jumping the gun a little bit, but . . . Tonight I made Shirley O. Corriher's fresh strawberry pie recipe from Bakewise. I made the pie for my dad's birthday tomorrow. I've never been a big fan of pie, so I've never learned to make them, and I think he's suffered from the loss there many years! There were always cakes and cookies in the house, but the poor man couldn't get a slice of apple pie to save his life. But this is his year. Lesley A. Owens. Links to this post. Poems About Oranges: January 2012
http://poemsaboutoranges.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
If Zadie Smith and Douglas Adams Had a Baby . . . It would be precocious and aggressively clever and named January 2012. Work has been so hectic this month that once January 23rd rolled around, I realized that I had only read one book since the new year: Zadie Smith. S Changing My Mind: Occasional Essay. I thought. "I'm shooting for 52 total this year! I can do better.". And a few choice back issues of The New Yorker. And bits of The Best American Poetry of 2011. To my Goodreads list. Collects Smith's pr...

Poems About Oranges: Sleeping Preacher
http://poemsaboutoranges.blogspot.com/2011/09/sleeping-preacher.html
Have you ever put off reading a book for one reason or another, only to finally read it and desperately regret your years of hesitation? That's what happened to me last week with Julia Kasdorf's Sleeping Preacher. Kasdorf was one of my instructors at Penn State. I've always loved her poems (I wrote about one here. Was her first book, a book that I knew she had a love-hate relationship with. I just wasn't sure that it would be as moving as her later work, so I put it off. Do you live in the city? From the...

Poems About Oranges: I never thought I'd say this, but . . .
http://poemsaboutoranges.blogspot.com/2012/04/i-never-thought-id-say-this-but.html
I never thought I'd say this, but . . . I think I've lost months to watching NCAA basketball. I mean, I've also been busy with friends and travel, which are great, but I feel like I've spent most of my nights this spring happily planted on my favorite bar stool in downtown Lawrence watching what has been probably my favorite KU basketball team ever. Later in the next month or two, look for posts on. Reading about London, in London. A few of my favorite novels so far this year. Lesley A. Owens. Internatio...

Poems About Oranges: My Big Fat Summer Reading: Vanity Fair
http://poemsaboutoranges.blogspot.com/2011/06/my-big-fat-summer-reading-vanity-fair.html
My Big Fat Summer Reading: Vanity Fair. Last summer, it was Middlemarch. This year, I'm having a go at William Makepeace Thackeray's Vanity Fair. My annual way-too-long novel read has begun! I was inspired to read Vanity Fair. For two reasons: 1) Vanity Fair. And 2) I came across this awesome The Hairpin. About great classic novels with mean female main characters. It was funny and clever and totally convinced me that Thackeray was worth tackling. ( Carrie Hill Wilner. Also wrote an article. And Jennifer...

Poems About Oranges: Easter, "which is natural which is infinite which is yes"
http://poemsaboutoranges.blogspot.com/2012/04/easter-which-is-natural-which-is.html
Easter, "which is natural which is infinite which is yes". For a lot of different reasons, the last few weeks have been rough. Like day-old stubble rough. Like poorly poured concrete rough. Like bouncing down a mountain made of pumice stone rough. Well, maybe not that. Rough, but they haven't been exactly bunny soft, either. Luckily, today was Easter, my favorite of all my family's holidays. We frosted cookies . . . I thank You God for most this amazing]. By e e. cummings. How should tasting touching hea...
