paper my wings: me
http://papermywings.blogspot.com/p/me.html
Me is Suhail Shaikh, born in India in 1969 and through various adventures living presently in France. My thirst for toys was more than we could afford as a family so my grandmother taught me how to make toys myself from a very early age. My hands are my most precious best friends ever since. Space was a problem and they either died natural deaths due to the prevalent humidity or they were occasionally given away. I never thought of photographing them. In the move from India to France, the few models I co...

paper my wings: Spitfire
http://papermywings.blogspot.com/2014/10/spitfire.html
It's a legend that symbolises so much. The courageous pilots who flew them 75 odd years ago in defence of their nation and the defiance of the common man who stood below cheering them on, airplanes with the 'pointy wings'. Design and technical innovation with flexibility and efficiency. Childhood fantasies and inspiration for generations to come. Grace, beauty and élegance. And so much more. All immortalised into one shape, so pleasing to the eye, built of metal, wood and fabric. Halfway through the cons...

paper my wings: Messerschmitt Me 410
http://papermywings.blogspot.com/2010/07/messerschmitt-me-410.html
1999, Grenoble, a few weeks after my arrival in France. Bright blue endless skies, sunshine and cool mountain breeze conspired to make me happy. And when I'm happy my fidgetyfingers want to make things out of paper. So this model began as a sort of 'celebration' of my new chapter in France. And eventually the unfinished model found it's resting place in a cardboard box in the damp confines of the basement. The unfinished model, 11 years later. The unfinished cockpit and engine bay. From the pilot's seat.
