Wondering Out Loud

Thoughts about my journey on earth as a follower of Jesus. Sunday, July 24, 2011. Today was hot at church. I mean the temperature inside the sanctuary, the brick sanctuary with no air conditioning and small windows that barely open, was very, very warm. It was the kind of day you could easily fall asleep (or pass out) if you were not careful. I think our pastor is wise to take his month long Sabbatical in July. I am glad I heard him today. He brought a message from God's Word as shared in. That's right 1...

Wondering Out Loud: When it Hurts

http://weaselswonderings.blogspot.com/2010/07/when-it-hurts.html

Thoughts about my journey on earth as a follower of Jesus. Monday, July 19, 2010. Isn't she just about the cutest 17 month old you have ever seen? This is our granddaughter, Sarah Grace, who is visiting us with her parents right now. We just love having her around and sharing in the joy of watching her grow and learn new things daily. Sarah lives in China, that's right, CHINA, the country on the other side of the world! We visited her there when she was just a few months old and she looked like this.

Thoughts about my journey on earth as a follower of Jesus. Sunday, July 20, 2008. A Week Well Spent. Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! The 2008 Shaw Family Reunion is now history. It will undoubtably be remembered as one of the most spectacular. 1980 - Brandywine Meadows Camp in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania. 1982 - Shaw family home in Middle Simonds, New Brunswick. 1984 - Dean and Dorinda's home in Hamilton, Ontario. 1988 - Shenandoah Acres Resort in Stuarts Draft, Virgina.

Thoughts about my journey on earth as a follower of Jesus. Sunday, February 8, 2009. Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! As the sun begins to climb into the sky, I am sitting in my living room, praising and thanking God for his many blessings to me and the ones I love. I thank him for the love that put his own son in my place at Calvary, even though I was still an angry, selfish, rebellious sinner. What amazing love! Oh Lord, I am aware of your presence and your love and yo...

Thoughts about my journey on earth as a follower of Jesus. Monday, May 25, 2009. Memorial Day - 2009. Today has been a spectacularly beautiful day! On this day we would have the privilege of serving, sharing and saluting! We would be able to serve. The community in the name of Jesus. We would share. The provision of God and His people as we gave away free coffee, water, lemonade and over 1,000 hotdogs! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 1 Timothy 1:14&15 (ESV). And the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with t...

Thoughts about my journey on earth as a follower of Jesus. Thursday, April 30, 2009. The room was actually a split-level suite and it was very nice. It featured a fresh fruit welcome tray, international cable television on two television sets (we watched news on the BBC network with English speaking announcers, the first time since arriving in China and the HBO Family channel) two bathrooms, and three twin beds! Here are a few pictures of the room. Our prayer life was in full evidence during this flight!

Marianne's Life in Asia: June 2011

Saturday, June 25, 2011. Sorry to leave you all so long waiting for the rest of the story! To say its been a busy week would be an understatement . . . a huge understatement. We have been going non-stop since we got to the U.S., and especially since we got her to St. Louis. But, I digress. ;) Where did I leave off? Oh, yes, we were in Connecticut for a few precious hours with David's folks, enjoying Dunkin Donuts. :). We made the whole trip- New Haven to NYC subways to airport train to airport- in less t...

Marianne's Life in Asia: Four Weeks

http://marianneslifeinasia.blogspot.com/2011/05/four-weeks.html

Thursday, May 19, 2011. Four weeks from tomorrow we will board an airplane and say a final goodbye to this country which has been our home for seven years. It is still incomprehensible to me a lot of the time, but there are more and more moments where the reality is sinking in. Those moments are intense, full of emotion- grief, loss, helplessness, and gratefulness all mixed together. Then, suddenly, I realized- this is probably the last shower I will host for anyone for a long time! Welcome to my blog!

Marianne's Life in Asia: I want to blog again . . . pray for me!

http://marianneslifeinasia.blogspot.com/2012/10/i-want-to-blog-again-pray-for-me.html

Monday, October 1, 2012. I want to blog again . . . pray for me! This photo happened right at the beginning of September. After a pretty scorching Missouri summer, we finally got some "cool" weather, like in the 80's. I told Sarah that Fall was coming and the weather was going to start getting cooler. She is just beginning to grasp the idea of seasons. We were out on the deck, but suddenly she yelled excited, "Its going to snow soon! I want it to stop, I tell you! Finally, this is from Sarah's first day ...

Marianne's Life in Asia: Update

http://marianneslifeinasia.blogspot.com/2011/06/update.html

Tuesday, June 14, 2011. So somehow four weeks (when I wrote the last post) has suddenly become three days! In just three days, David, Sarah and I will board a plane at 7:30 am and say goodbye to this city we've called home for seven years . . . So how are we feeling at this point? That is until you set foot in Target . . . " Oh, how well you know me, friend! Still, I think there is something spiritually beneficial to owning less . . . at least for a little while. :). Marianne's Life in Asia: September 2010

http://marianneslifeinasia.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Wednesday, September 29, 2010. That said, I knew it might be a while before Sarah got into coloring and such things. I tried it one time with her the week we got back, and quickly discovered that Sarah was more interested in coloring the floor and the filing cabinets (she hadn't discovered the walls yet! Than on paper, so we put the crayons away for a while. Meanwhile one of Sarah's favorite toys continues to be her magna-doodle, so I knew she liked scribbling on things. And let her go to town! Here are a couple more I uploaded that are REALLY just for Sarah's most dedicated fans:. Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? In that one, we tried to catch Sarah on video saying, "Mmmm, delicious! Which she says all the time these days), but instead we just got a video of Sarah very silently and passionately eating corn on the cob. And even t...
