How Does Four Winds Work? Four Winds has enabled members of the public to own a stake in their local renewable energy resource and thus benefit from the sale of green electricity, produced when the wind blows. The Co-operative was set-up in July 2013 to develop suitable sites for wind turbines on land owned by Harworth Estates that has been used for mining in Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Lancashire. The co-operative is based on the successful model of Baywind Energy Co-operative www.baywind.co.uk.

How Does Four Winds Work? Friday 12th June 2015. Shafton Turbine is up! Four Winds Energy Co-op are delighted that their latest turbine at Shafton, near Barnsley in Yorkshire is now complete. The construction team worked into the night, to take advantage of a period of light wind, to lift the blades into place as it got dark at 10-45. Commissioning and connections will take place over the next two weeks and the first electricity will be exported before the end of this month.
