In the organic garden. Pentas lanceolata (flowering habit variety of pinks to purple). Location: Maui, Kapalua (Photo credit: Wikipedia). Blue Flax Linum perenne lewisii ‘Appar’ Flower 2614px (Photo credit: Wikipedia). In bloom this week:. White/yellow bearded iris. Also some gold/dark purple, some mauve. I like the purple ones the best… I would like to thin and give away/trade the rest of these. The pinks are going crazy. All of the midnight salvia–it’s beautiful. Blue flax is going strong. You know tha...

Just Another Mama Blog: August 2011
http://justanothermamablog.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Just Another Mama Blog. Monday, August 29, 2011. A New School Year. It is this helpless vulnerability that is the hardest part of parenting, I think. The knowledge that you can't always make it all better, that you often can't dial a number and fix the problem. That you can't alway be there to pick your child up. Links to this post. Wednesday, August 17, 2011. Links to this post. Saturday, August 13, 2011. That is nearly two hours of my life. PS Luke doesn't like shirts very much. Links to this post.

Just Another Mama Blog: February 2011
http://justanothermamablog.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Just Another Mama Blog. Thursday, February 24, 2011. Over the weekend I made homemade egg noodles with Henry. They were really good. I would say that it is worth it for a special meal, since they tasted so good, although I didn't save any money and they are a good bit of work. I used this recipe. We served them with vodka sauce that we adapted quite a lot from a recipe that we found online. Here's our recipe:. 1 t dried basil or 1 T. fresh, minced. 1 can petite diced tomatoes. 1 can tomato puree. I won't...

Just Another Mama Blog: March 2012
http://justanothermamablog.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Just Another Mama Blog. Thursday, March 29, 2012. After Two Months, A Short Post About Poop. I will never dook in the woods," said Luke on the walk to school yesterday. I will always dook in the woods," said Henry. Dook, dook, dook," said Silas. I just looked up dook at this awesome website. To make sure I was spelling it correctly. It seems my boys have coined a new verb for pooping. And all of these things say so much about each one of us. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Finding Silver Linings: Intimates A (2) Z
http://findingsilverlinings.blogspot.com/2007/12/intimates-2-z.html
What's on my mind. Sunday, December 30, 2007. Intimates A (2) Z. My mom gave me new pajamas for Christmas. We all get PJs on Christmas Eve to make sure we are wearing something suitable for the morning photos. She hasn't figured anything out for smushed hair or leftover traces of makeup from the Eve's party, though. A hot cup of coffee with a splash of eggnog usually masks morning breath, however. Look with wonder at that which is before you.". Cultivate the feeling that miracles are coming your way.".

Finding Silver Linings: Mein gutes, geliebtes Schätzele
http://findingsilverlinings.blogspot.com/2008/02/mein-gutes-geliebtes-schtzele.html
What's on my mind. Thursday, February 21, 2008. Mein gutes, geliebtes Schätzele. The other night I realized I had nothing to blog about. Not a noteworthy thought in my head. Somewhat sobering to think I'd subtitled my blog "What's On My Mind" only to find in month #3 of blogging my mind has gone blank. The intrigue stems from a number of sources:. The dates on the letters (1936 - 1937). The handwriting (distinctive, long, thin letters). The volume of letters (written almost daily). Or N Fromm letterhead ...

Finding Silver Linings: A flutter
http://findingsilverlinings.blogspot.com/2008/01/flutter_09.html
What's on my mind. Wednesday, January 9, 2008. This beautiful black swallowtail butterfly greeted me on my first day back at the center. I came in to the garden workroom and was filled with awe. After all the broken bones of 2007, its unexpected presence on this cold, snowy day seemed like a blessing from above. A sign of the beauty that would unfold in the new year. Max joined me in my quest for meaning. He examined the specimen I brought home in a takeaway salad container, heard the story and looke...

Finding Silver Linings: May 2009
http://findingsilverlinings.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
What's on my mind. Saturday, May 16, 2009. I read in this morning's Trib that parking at some of my favorite beaches will now cost $1 per hour. That would include the beach next to the planetarium and the 63rd street beach. I'm hotter than my tender toes on the sand of an August afternoon! How cool is that? I haven't had enough time to figure out a solution but I'm leaning toward putting a stick in the sand and guesstimating when an hour has passed based on my sundial. Or maybe an hour glass.
