July 26, 2009. Launch an Organization in the Mail? From DM News and Views - July 2009. As bleak news about year-end fundraising came out in early 2009, two organizations that had never acquired donors through the mail took the plunge and sent a test mailing. And, both organizations were tremendously successful. On the morning of May 9, 2001, the American Jewish community awoke to the news that a 13-year-old boy named Koby Mandell had been brutally murdered by terrorists in Israel. For most of the world, ...

An Aliyah Journey- from California to Israel. Wednesday, September 14, 2011. How big is too big? When I got pregnant with my first daughter, my husband and I decided that it was time to start saving for a house of our own. Neither of us felt/feel comfortable taking out a large mortgage, so we really wanted to put as much of a down payment as possible. But how will you clean it? I guess the sand does make it harder. So I am still debating. How big is too big? How small is too small? My grandmother could t...

September 25, 2009. Have a pleasent day. Ever feel like you're getting a new present when you're really just enjoying something you already owned? That's what it feels like when I pick up my shirts from my dry cleaners. My whole life I was used to getting my clean clothing back on a hanger. A hanger! Can you believe it? Have a pleasent day.". Yes, you read it right the first time. Pleasent. Not pleasant. Normally something small like this is enough to deter me from going back to a store. Any slight w...

Negev Writing: Embrace the unfamiliar
http://negevwriting.blogspot.com/2009/10/embrace-unfamiliar.html
October 4, 2009. There's so much we can learn about marketing from everyday life! Here's a basic marketing lesson we can learn from Sukkot. The festival which Jews around the world are currently celebrating:. There's a great song by John Mayer. Called The Great Indoors. Which describes our fear of the unfamiliar. He sarcastically recommends just sticking with what we're used to: Scared of the world outside you should go explore / Pull all the shades and wander the great indoors. Last Saturday night I blo...

An Aliyah Journey- from California to Israel. Monday, April 19, 2010. Life as an israeli. Wednesday, April 14, 2010. I decided to take the baby out to the shuk (market) today, to let her look at all the colors and the actions going on. She loves "talking" back to the vendors yelling their prices and to look at all the items. On the way back I stopped at aroma (a coffee shop) to get something to drink. and outside the mall here in KG was a LARGE group of kids. speaking english! Monday, April 12, 2010.

An Aliyah Journey- from California to Israel. Monday, November 19, 2012. It has been a long time since Ive written. The whole point of this blog was to chart the aliyah process, the differences between the US and Israel and how they have effected me. I guess after 3 years here, the new and shocking doesnt seem so interesting to write about anymore. Why am I putting my girls through this? I dont know what the future holds for us, or how long we may stay here in Israel, or if we will move back to the state...

An Aliyah Journey- from California to Israel. Thursday, November 26, 2009. Holidays can be tough, because I miss my family and I want to celebrate just as I did growing up. It was even hard doing the shopping for Thanksgiving because I felt so alone. No one around me was shopping for Thanksgiving, or even knew what it was. I guess I am starting a new tradition here, but it can be hard. As is traditional, I guess I should end with the things I am thankful for (B"H). I am thankful for:. The pre-school seem...
