Welcoming Mom

Our journey of creating a new space. Thursday, August 19, 2010. Enjoying our new spaces. This USED to be our living room. The wall where the fireplace was is no longer there. The fireplace has been relocated to the basement. The old deck that was just outside that door is gone. A new deck is now out to the side of the new addition. This is the NEW part of the living room. This is the view standing from our front door. The original living room and addition blend together so well! Wednesday, July 14, 2010.

Welcoming Mom: DONE!

http://www.welcomingmom.blogspot.com/2010/07/done.html

Our journey of creating a new space. Wednesday, July 14, 2010. We made the final payment yesterday. We are T H R I L L E D! Just a few photos. Our rooms are not really set up and decorated completely yet. Today furniture was delivered for Mom's room. Her closet system was installed. This was her little luxury. Now to fill it up with her clothes- she has a LOT! This is the ironing center which we will paint. The experience was wonderful and the workmanship superb! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Welcoming Mom: Patios poured!

http://www.welcomingmom.blogspot.com/2010/06/patios-poured.html

Our journey of creating a new space. Friday, June 18, 2010. Weather is always a factor during construction. Fortunately the only thing that was affected by weather was the pouring of the concrete. The issue was more of having the heavy truck pull through the yard and leave deep ruts after the rainfall we have had. They were here by 7:00 this morning and started right to work. We now have some great patio spaces that I look forward to turning into some great outdoor rooms. This blog was created to documen...

Welcoming Mom: Waiting on the final inspections!

http://www.welcomingmom.blogspot.com/2010/07/waiting-on-final-inspections.html

Our journey of creating a new space. Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Waiting on the final inspections! May 7- 2 months to the day- the footers for this project were poured. It is hard to believe that this process is coming to a close. We are really excited but at the same time a bit sad. Everyone working on this project was so nice that we will miss having them here everyday- well at least a bit! The carpet was laid, HVAC in and the landscaper mulched and planted grass seed. Welcoming Mom: Painting done

http://www.welcomingmom.blogspot.com/2010/06/painting-done.html

Our journey of creating a new space. Monday, June 28, 2010. New patio areas off basement. Basement standing in original area looking at new addition. Fireplace was moved from living room to basement. Standing in original living room looking out to addition. Looking out to new deck. We chose the same color that we have in our house for the living room and basement areas. Mom's room, closet and bathroom are Sherwin William's Silvermist. Above is looking into mom's 8x 10 closet- waiting on the closet system.

Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Our construction is drawing to a close! I never would have dreamed that this process would be so quick. It has been fun-most days. The work crews have been so great that we joke we will miss having them here each day. Once we have the decorating underway we will post more pictures. For now you can catch up with the new pictures I posted on the blog devoted to the addition here. July 10, 2010 at 12:25 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Thistle Patch Hill: June 2010

http://thistlepatchhill.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do! Construction on our addition is coming to an end and we are getting anxious. It has actually been a very positive experience but no matter how positive the experience, there is only so much one can take! What a change from the kitchen table! As we sat and looked out the windows I asked mom what she was seeing and she said that she was looking for a bear to come out of the woods! Monday, June 14, 2010. Celebrate our Flag Today. Planning l...

Welcoming Olim

Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Integrating into Life in Israel. Our latest two Kallot, both orphaned from their mother, were born in Israel to Israeli parents. Needless to say, in order to interact with them we have to speak in Hebrew. As I SMS'd the step-mother of one, in Hebrew, and prepared an email to the other, in Hebrew, I had to stop myself. Enjoy the blessing of being in Eretz Yisrael. It is the most special place to be. Have a very blessed day. Links to this post. Labels: Advice for Olim. In Jerusal...
