Every day in China is an Adventure: January 2008

http://www.wendyinchina07.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Every day in China is an Adventure. Living and teaching in Beijing, China. Monday, January 28, 2008. Hello less cold weather! Okay, so I'm not exactly going into the warm weather I had originally (naively? Expected, but at least I'll be leaving Beijing's below-freezing temperatures for Hong Kong and southern China's chilly, but above-freezing temperatures. It's winter vacation time for me in China! Tomorrow morning I leave for my Chinese New Year adventure! Monday, January 21, 2008. I wore ski pants over...

Every day in China is an Adventure: November 2007

Every day in China is an Adventure. Living and teaching in Beijing, China. Wednesday, November 28, 2007. I know this is going to sound weird. Sometimes I just have these moments, like last Friday when I went to the LaoShe Teahouse to watch Peking Opera and other performances, where I just sat in complete awe, almost child-like, thinking about how absolutely wonderful China is. And I have moments where I keep repeating to myself, "Being Chinese is so freaking cool! I cannot believe that it's the end of No...

Every day in China is an Adventure. Living and teaching in Beijing, China. Tuesday, December 25, 2007. Beijing is a little bizarre at times. After dinner, Brandy and I went to this bar called the People's Bus Bar, which was pretty much a trailer in a parking lot converted to a bar. They had 10 kuai (= $1.35 USD) giant mugs of draft beer and the dj was spinning an awesome mix of reggaeton and hip-hop, my fave. At 11pm, someone brought a 3 year old in a BAR! It was absolutely crazy. I wandered around a fan...

Every day in China is an Adventure. Living and teaching in Beijing, China. Tuesday, February 12, 2008. Wendy Meets Distant Family in Southern China- Thoughts, Part 1: Gender Roles. I just got back from one of the strangest familial interactions of this entire trip (possibly. But it's tough competition since there have been some pretty strange family interactions in the past few weeks). I am lucky and privileged, and sometimes I need to remind myself that. Incoherent Chinese T-Shirt Sightings. To be human...

Six Months in Japan: June 2007

Six Months in Japan. Saturday, June 23, 2007. To Do in Japan. Seems like a logical thing to post before I leave, and I like lists. So here is the first of many to come. Dance my ass off at some amazing concerts. (I miss good shows. ). Spend an entire day not saying anything in English. (I have no idea how likely this is, but it sounds like a good challenge.). Plant a tree. (I just saw the movie The Fountain and it made me like trees even more.). Does this make me a tool? Would that be worse? I'll use thi...

Six Months in Japan. Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Two months in the making. So I realize that I haven’t updated in a while… in a long while, almost two months. So here are the highlights (mostly in photo form) so I can get on with the present. SCJ to Imperial Palace (August 2). Amusing myself | my (sub)urban life

https://theyellowperil.wordpress.com/2008/07/01/amusing-myself

An exercise in mental exhibitionism. July 1, 2008. I recently found this new silly way to entertain myself. I watch gay porn, and then play songs on random and see how well it goes together. Here are some songs that worked pretty well:. Albert Chiang – Track 15: This just made the scene seem really sweet. Granted, I was playing this while there was mostly just making out and groping. It’s sunny and makes it seem like just nice, frolicksome fun with teen boys canoodling on a mountain. You are commenting u...

An exercise in mental exhibitionism. The Greatest Band of All Time. December 24, 2007. As some of you know my dream for this Christmas is to have an electric ukulele and a keytar. Imagine the possibilities! All the positive I could do for the world! Here is a peak into the future if someone will grant my wishes:. And now close your eyes and listen to this! Finally, if I had a keytar, the world will come to know ROCK as it has never experienced! Who would want to deny anyone this?

An exercise in mental exhibitionism. By golly, i think i’ve got it! May 20, 2008. This year has been a year of being down in the dumps, being in a rut, neurotically self-absorbed and destructively self-obsessed, being wrapped up in regretting the past and fearing the future…. Now i realize what it all boils down to…i’ve lost my mojo, baby. i just need to find it again. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. An exercise in mental exhibitionism. On another note…. September 13, 2007. As some of you may know, I’ve been having my Pottermania obsession about 6 weeks later than everyone else. Oh well. Better late than never. Some haters would say better never than ever. Here are two of my favorite Harry Potter parodies:. This is just silly and I enjoy the slutty Gryffindor costumes. Fuck that I’m not oversensitive. September 13, 2007. No matter what you say! I’m also sick of people assuming anything I say ab...
