THE WESSEX REIVER

Countryside musings from a Northumbrian awake in the midst of a dream in the deep West Country. Friday, 14 August 2015. August 13th 2015 - Project Month 8. August : I feel the Quickening arrive. The village photographed at 8.45pm on August 7th, dusk before the watershed. The field and orchard now devoid of sheep but they'll be back I'm sure. The River looking wonderful, willowherb in flower now. Hard to remember how bleak and forbidding this church felt back in January, warm and welcoming now. Casually g...

THE WESSEX REIVER: March 2015

http://wessexreiver.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

A man cannot drift up into a corner of some green lane, and stay in his cottage out of the tide of life, as was once the case. The tide comes to him." Richard Jefferies 1883. Saturday, 21 March 2015. March 20th 2015 at 09.28 hours.the partial eclipse and the martins. I think so, as in the whole 90 minutes on the Levels those two dogs only barked for 5 minutes around the 9.30am maxima. As a postscript to this as I packed up the local farmer, Colin drove into the carpark to check the water levels over his ...

A man cannot drift up into a corner of some green lane, and stay in his cottage out of the tide of life, as was once the case. The tide comes to him." Richard Jefferies 1883. Sunday, 4 January 2015. January 4th 2015 - Project month 1. The challenge however was, what to photograph? Given this is the first weekend in January, I saw no reason to delay. To my regret the weather was at best dull, at worst downright soggy. That however meant, to me at least, that the images for January do reflect somew...Image...

A man cannot drift up into a corner of some green lane, and stay in his cottage out of the tide of life, as was once the case. The tide comes to him." Richard Jefferies 1883. Wednesday, 29 October 2014. October 29th 2014 - Before dawn. Being English of course the first thing I did was to make a nice cup of tea, before switching all the lights off in the house, ventured onto the seating area in the garden. And so I experimented - 10 second exposures and hurling the camera around like a madman. I like ...

THE WESSEX REIVER: Flying Ant Day

http://wessexreiver.blogspot.com/2015/08/flying-ant-day.html

A man cannot drift up into a corner of some green lane, and stay in his cottage out of the tide of life, as was once the case. The tide comes to him." Richard Jefferies 1883. Sunday, 2 August 2015. Christmas comes but once a year was the title of a 1930's short film, and in most years this is undoubtedly true. However in August 2015 the Festive Season began early, four months early, and with a nod to Rudolph involved a species of animal we don't expect to see on the wing - ants to be precise. This mass e...

wytchwood ramblings: October 2014

http://wytchwood-ramblings.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Musings of a pagan elder from the beautiful gardens of Wytchwood, located in Newfoundland, Canada. Tuesday, October 21, 2014. A Tree Hugging Kind of Day. So many leaves on the ground the whole property is gold and orange with the odd bit of red thrown in. I've been trying to get things put to bed bit by bit. For some reason my heart doesn't seem to be in it like other years. Maybe because I've been busy preparing for the long cold winter to come. Regardless, yesterday I got a bit done. Cats on a dull day.

Musings of a pagan elder from the beautiful gardens of Wytchwood, located in Newfoundland, Canada. Wednesday, May 13, 2015. This weekend is a long one, Monday being a holiday. I expect we'll see an influx of people coming to open their summer houses and cabins. And so it begins. Traffic and strange faces up until Labour Day weekend in September. New birds have been at the suet feeders for days now. Yellow Rumped Warblers. They are so pretty. Small birds as well. Saturday, May 02, 2015. Toad's Hall of Fame.

Musings of a pagan elder from the beautiful gardens of Wytchwood, located in Newfoundland, Canada. Monday, November 17, 2014. I got a phone call last night that there was a coyote seen not far from my house. Thankfully all the cats were inside. A bear was also sighted up behind me recently so caution must prevail at the moment. I haven't been taking many pictures lately. Don't know why really. Too busy to think about it I guess. Anyway, here's a few that I did take. Sunday, November 09, 2014.

Musings of a pagan elder from the beautiful gardens of Wytchwood, located in Newfoundland, Canada. Thursday, February 19, 2015. Two spiders have set up residence in the bathroom. Gives me a spring feeling. The sun is higher in the sky these days and I can feel the warmth as it comes through the windows. My old shed on a sunny day. It's going to have to come down at some point this year. It's seen it's day. It's served me well for about thirty five years. Squirrel in a bit of a blizzard. The Quacks of Life.

Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Crown Jewels for Sale. One of the contentious issues between Westminster and Holyrood of late. Has been the future of the Crown Estate in Scotland. UK-wide, the portfolio of property and other investments brings in £285m a year to HM Treasury and pays. For HM herself and any hangers-on who, unlike the Duke of Cornwall, aren’t funded from other public assets. Control of the Crown Estate is vital. Sure enough, the Crown Estate Commissioners have started to sell off. Reported last...

Friday, 23 April 2010. The Material or the Ethereal: Our Human Choice. I have called this new way the ethereal route, for it involves the realisation that everything is energy, everything is consciousness. We will be reconnecting with our higher selves, the parts of us that exist beyond the physical plane. We will know that we are far more than just flesh and bones, we have in fact several bodies, all of which resonate energetically. Labels: 5th dimensional consciousness. Monday, 21 December 2009.
