Group for and run by community groups in Westhoughton. Westhoughton Methodist Amateur Dramatic Society. We are based at Westhoughton Methodist Church, Wigan Road ( BL5 3QD. Rehearsal nights are Mondays from 7:30pm until 10pm. We put on two productions each year: our Pantomime, for which we write our own scripts, is on for the two middle weekends in February; our Comedy Play is on the third weekend in May. Thanks to our involvement with Westhoughton Community Network we produced a serialised radio play.

Another aspect of our work came about by the realisation that a person does not have to live on their own to be lonely. It may be that an older person is a carer and finds themselves isolated by the necessity to carry out their caring responsibilities. We therefore established a Sitting-In Service to offer respite to carers, by matching a trained volunteer who can meet the needs of the carer. Most recently, the service joined with other community orsganisations to form Westhoughton Community Network.
