Mrs. Darby's Classroom: August 2010
http://msdarby.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 29, 2010. Here it is ONE WEEK before school starts, and I haven't posted what I've been reading this summer! The good thing is that I have been reading a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. Here are some of the highlights. I read a really cool book by an Oregon author titled Restoring Harmony. The author is Joelle Anthony, and the book is set mostly in Gresham. Pretty cool! I also read Don't Judge a Girl by Her Cover. I can't believe I took time away from it to write this post! Any ch...

Mrs. Darby's Classroom: Summer!!

Friday, June 18, 2010. So, summer's here again! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Darby2@gresham.k12.or.us. What can I read? Any chapter book you wish, provided that it is at your "just-right" level. Magazines, newspapers, books of lists, manuals, comic books, etc. don’t have the big chunks of text you need to develop fluency, and they won’t help you discover who you are as a reader of literature. How much do I need to read? The minutes you are expected to read will not increase during the year. Shelfa...

Mrs. Darby's Classroom: Record Keeping
http://msdarby.blogspot.com/p/record-keeping.html
Maybe one of the iPad's biggest benefits for me has been the ability to quickly and easily enter grades as I walk around the classroom. It used to be weeks sometimes before a simple notebook check grade made it into the gradebook. Now, I just have to remember to carry it around with me. AND. How great would an Esis app be? Gotta remember this app. Just really started using it this week, and it's great! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Darby2@gresham.k12.or.us. What can I read? How much do I need to read?

Mrs. Darby's Classroom: Multimedia Lessons
http://msdarby.blogspot.com/p/multimedia-lessons.html
Never underestimate the power of a good video. I stole this lesson from Heidi G. But it was soooo powerful. Thanks, G! Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? We watched the video and then students wrote about a word that is powerful in their lives. We used this as a generating activity for a personal narrative unit. Really good lesson. Mrs. Darby's Classroom: August 2008
http://msdarby.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 11, 2008. This summer has been great! 160;I've had LOTS of time for reading. I even got a chance to read some books that weren't for young adults! A sampling of books I've read this summer:. Atherton - an Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) book. The Host - a new novel by Stephenie Meyer (the author of the Twilight Saga). Arc Angel - an OBOB book. The Secret of Shadow Ranch - Nancy Drew. The Oregonian - not a book, but I'm so happy to have time to read the newspaper! Schools Out - Forever!
