Built at Poplar London UK by Yarrow and Company Wairua (Spirit) joined the famous Hatrick and Co Whanganui River Steamer fleet in November 1904 and was a pioneer of river travel above Pipiriki. Mr Hatrick's Motor Vessel Wairua - A genuine vintage riverboat. The MV Wairua is docked on the banks of the Whanganui River. All sailings leave from the MV Wairua jetty unless otherwise organised. The jetty is located on Taupo Quay, adjacent to Moutoa Gardens. If using a GPS, you can use the corner of Taupo Quay and Bates Street as a look up reference. This is approximately 50 metres from the jetty. The jetty is conveniently located approximately 120 metres North of the Whanganui Riverboat Museum.
