A Community of Heart Breakers… | Vegan Eating for a Broken Heart

Vegan Eating for a Broken Heart. A Community of Heart Breakers…. Yes, it’s been a long while since I last wrote. I sat down a few times to do this, but there was never enough time to bang out some worthy words. Finally the time has come! You wouldn’t think a whole community could break your heart… but it’s true. My business was special to me in this context because it was something for me to hang on to when my heart was ripped to threads so long ago. I went in with a heads up from two great Toronto vegan...

The Tofu Hunter: August 2012
http://tofuhunter.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 21, 2012. In a similar fashion to our local beloved creameries, the Bi Rite Creamery in the Mission had a line out the door and snaking down the block when I paid a call. I waited in the lovely balmy afternoon (summer seemed to have hit San Francisco before we got ours! Watching cone after delicious cone emerge from the shop. Photo from http:/ sweets.seriouseats.com/. The Tofu Hunter: July 2012
http://tofuhunter.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 31, 2012. The tofu hunter spent a short and delicious period in San Francisco, a city that never fails to provide interesting vegetarian fare! One of my favorite meals from this recent trip was at Ramen Underground, a teeny, tightly packed ramen house on the border of Chinatown and the financial district. I was seated with a bunch of strangers at a postage stamp of a table and ordered by filling out an ordering sheet. My order: vegetarian broth, tofu, veggies, and chili paste.

To me, the most soulful, life affirming gardens are those that have a sense of poetry about them. The brilliant red-orange Chantenay Royal, the deep orange Bambino, the bright red Nantes Scarlet, the purple Cosmic - all poetic names of various heirloom carrots. But the Autumn King, is King of Fall and Winter! 1 large onion, sliced. Salt an...

And yet, it somehow appears that the light of veganism is so bright that people are afraid to open their eyes to it, even individuals whose eyes are open to the truth behind other social causes. What is it that makes us cling so stubbornly to a practice that is clearly unnecessary, devastatingly cruel, and, if left unchecked, will almost certainly end up destroying us?

stories from the road: fall

Saturday, August 30, 2008. I'm not as relaxed here as I'd like to be. Especially with the cold weather moving in. As the trailer gets colder, it reminds me that I need to be moving on soon. And moving on to what? Sometimes I'm completely ready to embrace the unknown next step. And other times, I feel like getting into that big unflattering sweater and curl up watching the swashbuckling Captain Horatio Hornblower. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Stories from the road. stories from the road: holiday cheer
http://beerinmexico.blogspot.com/2008/12/holiday-cheer.html
Saturday, December 13, 2008. It's been a long absence again, but not for lack of thinking about you all. I remained in Philly most of the past month - doing some long overdue catching up with friends and, shall we say, associates? Loved the social gatherings and, of course, joining in the creation of the 3rd 'Swarm Productions puppet show premiere: "Rocky MMVIII: Wherein the Italian Stallion Reflects upon the Ups and Downs of a Decidedly Tumultuous Year.". Mom and Dad, we'll discuss it later.). Wishing a...

stories from the road: home
http://beerinmexico.blogspot.com/2008/10/home.html
Sunday, October 5, 2008. A long absence, my friends. Thank you to all of you who are keeping up now and then on my movements. So over the past four months, I've been getting tan, buff, and better able to wield a pitchfork. I've shared a lot of photos of beautiful places, had a lot of visits from loving and dedicated friends and family. I've gone kayaking, harvested some of the most beautiful food I've ever seen, and experienced a life of somewhat quiet trailer living. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
