Academomia: August 2015
http://academomia.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 31, 2015. Catching up. Which is what I do all semester long. Also, do NOT GET EXCITED, INTERNET. Casa Edwards is at CAPACITY. There was also face painting. Charley asked for "a bass.". Wes went for more of a Gene Simmons look. They did a little rock climbing. Dunked several members of the faculty in the dunking booth. And stayed full on grape snowcones until Ryan got there and we had dinner. Or the rest of us had dinner and Wes ate cookies and brownies and rice crispie treats. Saturday nig...

Academomia: February 2015

Friday, February 27, 2015. Not Safe For If You Are Eating Something. Side note, I bought some earphones and found a station on Pandora called "Power Workout". Life. Changed. I do love the Van Morrison Radio station I listen to all day, but a bunch seventies pot smoking music does little to motivate me through minutes 21-45 of olympic power walking. Dirty, NSFW rap and hip hop is JUST THE THING. I gave it a slightly more direct sniff for confirmation. TOTALLY PUKE. Thursday, February 26, 2015. James and M...

Academomia: July 2015
http://academomia.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 27, 2015. Blame it on the train. Get behind the red line! And "DON'T EAT THOSE OH MY GOD! And there's the little matter of no one liking having to spend time in a urine-scented oven just to go home. Ryan and I were happy enough with the situation, but the kids were having fantasies of being swept away in our roomy, private, air-conditioned minivan where strangers don't yell at you for looking at them. His little shoulders slumped and he groaned "Oh MANNNN! Meanwhile, I was trying to gather a...

Academomia: June 2015
http://academomia.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Kitchen kitchen kitchen KIIITTTCHHHEEENN. I may have mentioned that we are doing a bit of work in the kitchen, yes? Well I have good news, you're not going to have to keep hearing about it because WE HAVE COUNTERS. Counters were the final step in the "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie: Home Improvement Edition" and they came on MONDAY. HAH. LEH. U. JAH. Here's how the story goes, if you are not familiar with it. If you want to eat in the dining room, you have to rip up the carpet.

Academomia: April 2014

Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Academomia's Guide to Home Maintenance: Fixing your effing toilet. Since a non-flushing toilet is a Class 1 household emergency, the first thing to do when your effing toilet breaks is to excuse yourself from the dinner table (where you are hosting guests who brought a lovely spaghetti dinner) to go investigate what is wrong. According to the kids the flushing thingy is loose and the toilet won't flush. Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Single parenting is a bitch. Today got off to a ro...

Trip to the Periphery: New home
http://tripperiphery.blogspot.com/2008/08/new-home.html
Trip to the Periphery. Friday, August 8, 2008. My favorite part of our new life is the in-ground neighborhood pool. It is surrounded by over sized deck chairs, tables with large umbrellas, oyster roasting open fireplace and grill any man would salivate over. The shallow end is zero entry with jets of water that shoot up, indeed fun for the little ones. Having a pool nearby must be wonderful! August 8, 2008 at 6:36 AM. Trip to the Periphery: July 2007
http://tripperiphery.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Trip to the Periphery. Tuesday, July 31, 2007. Or do I rejoice for the 33 active years I enjoyed. Orthopedic surgery was the ONLY rotation I hated in med school. Funny. Something about the bone saw- never set well with me. PM&R seemed like a silly specialty when selecting a career. Now I go to see one, for a cortisone shot, for a cure. Links to this post. Trip to the Periphery: Back in the Saddle
http://tripperiphery.blogspot.com/2008/05/back-in-saddle.html
Trip to the Periphery. Monday, May 5, 2008. Back in the Saddle. More news actually. Today was my first day back doing procedures- since my hip surgery. I was a little anxious about being able to stand the whole morning- I can remember how grueling these clinics were last year. I would dose up on Motrin before and during the busy schedule. And today, NO PAIN! None I am so relieved. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Swim, the comeback. Total yards 2008: 4900. Stationary bike: 6 miles. Back in the Saddle.

Trip to the Periphery: March 2008
http://tripperiphery.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Trip to the Periphery. Sunday, March 30, 2008. So I have news. that I am kinda anxious about. Looks like my days as a basic scientist are numbered. I am looking to make a change in my career plans. Tossing in the hat, there will be no K award application (although it is almost finished! None of this will they put in writing, and when finally appointed to faculty my salary will be a whopping $80K- no negotiations! Why do they do this? Who will ever go into academic research? What are they thinking? One po...
