Where the Blacktop Ends. Did you know that due to the lack of trees in Mongolia, some houses are/were made of felt for warmth? Felt making- talk about a useful handicraft! I had a chance last year to go inside an actual yurt (ger) from Mongolia. We have friends who are missionaries there. Last winter when they were home for a visit, they brought a house with them! It was night time when we went in. This is the layer of felt showing inside at the top of the structure. I love so many if the ideas in here!

Playful Learning ABC - Where the Blacktop Ends

http://wheretheblacktopends.weebly.com/1/post/2011/09/playful-learning-abc.html

Where the Blacktop Ends. It’s the time of year for people in line at the grocery store to ask my 4 year old son, “So, are you going to preschool this year? For a morning in a typical preschool classroom the children would sing songs, have free play, read stories, have snack, take walks, do crafts, learn letters and numbers etc. All those things we already do; they just are not scheduled all in the same two mornings a week. Ldquo;Let the child alone, and he will learn the alphabet for himself: but few mot...

Saturday, August 29, 2015. What we are reading around here. DD 12 - this summer at the cabin reading, Calico Captive. It has been WAY TOO LONG since I rambled about what being read here besides the school stack. The shame. ;) My reading time has dropped a lot now with our term beginning, but I still squeeze a bit in! So, without further ado:. My devotional stack (besides the Bible) that I'm working through for this year (or longer):. 1 A Book of Comfort. 2 A Diary of Prayer. 3 Still Higher for His Highest.

Thursday, April 30, 2015. Britta In the Flowerbed" by Carl Larsson. Just was thinking on this. After reading it this morning. WOW. A lot of food for thought.considering this concept in my own life. I highly recommend this essay. Also meditating on this today, it just blessed me.(in a small way, I think it ties into the essay by Lewis) :. We are too high; Lord Jesus, we implore Thee,. Make of us something like the low green moss,. That vaunteth not, a quiet thing before Thee,. Tuesday, April 21, 2015.

Friday, July 31, 2015. Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy - A Book Review. Far From the Madding Crowd. By Thomas Hardy - I was lamenting to myself that some of my Back to Classics Challenge 2015 choices were too hard. ;). I happen to see someone mention this book again online and I thought to myself, "Well, can't be any harder than some of these others to get into! I picked it up from my lovely, local library and we left on a 7 day vacation. I read it all in those 7 days! But what he DOES. A rand...

where the blackberries grow ♫

Where the blackberries grow ♫. Sunday, June 15, 2014. Wednesday, May 7, 2014. My sister went into a nursing home yesterday. She has dementia. Early onset dementia. She's only 62, and so advanced in this disease that she can no longer be on her own without supervision. Like so many other diseases, they don't know what causes it. Right now, our attention goes to her. Is she being treated kindly? Is she combative to the people trying to take care of her? Is she scared or lonely? Tuesday, March 11, 2014.

Where the Blackbirds Sing

Where the Blackbirds Sing. Wednesday, May 4, 2011. This is where I come for my therapy. I read your blogs and they build hope in me. They give me strength and ideas. They give me joy and happiness, sometimes they make me sad. But I feel a closeness with you all. All it costs me is time and that is what I have right now. No magical superpowers for me. If I had them.well. In December of this year, after much fighting to delay it, I was evicted from my home due to foreclosure. I moved in with a neighbor.
