The white pine report

Sunday, December 26, 2010. Hello I am a 42 year old nursing student who has come down with Graves' disease, a form of autoimmune hyperthyroidism, that also attacks the eyes and sometimes other areas of the skin. I will be logging aspects of my experience with Graves' in hopes of helping others who suffer from it. I thought it might be useful to post a photograph of what my eyes look like currently. The right eye has a lot of periorbital swelling and other symptoms, which wax and wane. The other e...As fo...

The white pine report: Labs tomorrow

http://whitepinereport.blogspot.com/2009/05/labs-tomorrow.html

Sunday, May 31, 2009. I have a lab draw tomorrow after a few months of not checking. Things have been okay, with TSH around 1 and the free T4 and free T3 kind of low, but usually mid-range. Since the last post I've joined the working world and the weight is dropping off! It helps to be too busy to eat) 20 pounds so far, and counting. Hi- Great news about your weight loss- good for you! And of course I am always interested in what is going on with your eyes- thankfully that is going well too!

The white pine report: "Persistent remission"

http://whitepinereport.blogspot.com/2010/05/persistent-remission.html

Monday, May 10, 2010. It appears you are in persistent remission from the Graves' disease.". And he discharged me to the care of my primary physician! How cool is that? Remission has lasted almost a year, thus far. The last remission was about 14 years. May 12, 2010 at 5:39 AM. What do you attribute this remission to? Anything you may have done specifically or do you think its just your body healing itself? I want remission too! May 13, 2010 at 8:32 PM. May 15, 2010 at 8:17 PM. Wisconsin, United States.

The white pine report: March 2008

http://whitepinereport.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 14, 2008. So TSH went from below 0.05 - 0.17 - 3.81 - 3.28. Free T4 went from 1.3 - 0.7 - 0.6 - 0.7. Free T3 went from 5.2 to 2.5 - 2.4 - 2.8. So my thyroid hormones went back up a hair after the 9-day hiatus and a switch to PTU. I just decided to take 50 mg just once a day because my hormones look so close to swinging hypo. A little exercise, now that nursing clinicals have ended (mostly), should help boost the metabolism. Twice now, he has recommended RAI—the radioactive iodine proc...

The white pine report: February 2008

http://whitepinereport.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 26, 2008. Here you see my swollen eye and in the corner a good example of "scleral injection," which is a fancy way of saying bloodshot eyes. There is a tangle of veins and a beefy red patch where the affected eye muscle inserts. Eyes are the same as ever, and a little worse, since I ate a lot of nori this weekend, which contains a lot of iodine. Oh well. I keep telling myself I can concentrate on really. Getting well once nursing school is over. Tuesday, February 19, 2008. Now the plan...

PCOS, Graves Disease and Acupuncture. Blood sugars and hormones and heat – oh my! April 25, 2008 at 1:55 am · Filed under acupuncture. Then that very day, I got home and ate a bowl of pasta and meat and ran around the block twice. By the end I could barely lift my legs up and then I felt really dizzy, shakey and like my vision was kind of blurry. So I figure it had something to do with the blood sugar. Maybe I burned through too much sugar too fast? March 2, 2008 at 3:33 am · Filed under acupuncture.

PCOS, Graves Disease and Acupuncture. This is how I feel now…. December 2, 2009 at 3:32 am · Filed under blood sugar. I have noticed the longer I go without the pill, the less and less sleep I get. I kind of feel like a zombie. I feel like my body is edgy and buzzing all the time because I’m not getting rest. And I’m starting to put 2 and 2 together. What part of the body would they affect or slow down? No comments yet ». Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

PCOS, Graves Disease and Acupuncture. February 14, 2009 at 2:11 am · Filed under acupuncture. So I went back to my dr. today since she had taunted me in the past by mentioning doing a permanent solution for the Graves. But this time she just acted like there’s nothing that can/will be done. As long as the labs are normal nothing. It doesn’t matter if you have the eye disease, a goiter and the symptoms. Why should I have to wait as my gland slowly dies off and fights back over and over? 4 Comments ».

The fertility place says that thinner people get PCOS from being high school athletes because that caused them to have too much testosterone. But then they tell us to work out all the time, so I’m confused. Like doesn’t that have to do with why I have the problem in the first place? 4 Comments ». Wrote @ June 16, 2009 at 2:37 pm. Wednesday, May 06, 2015. What Im thinking about right now (in no particular order). I have not had the time (or, more accurately, made the time) for a coherent blog post lately. So many threads in the Dude's head. So I'll fire some of them off here, more for a mental exercise for myself than for anyone's reading pleasure. So you're warned. It is getting green around here fast, and a couple weeks ahead of last year. First Ovenbird was heard this morning. I knew it would be, and I almost didn't want to go.
