From Austen to Woolf: And I'm still ...
http://becomingwellread.blogspot.com/2011/09/and-im-still.html
From Austen to Woolf. Thursday, 29 September 2011. And I'm still . Reading Gormenghast. It's really long. It's a story about a castle and its occupants. It could be told in probably ten chapters, but Mervyn Peake likes to draw things out and tell us many details about curtains and breezes and leaves and thoughts and whispers and noses and hairstyles and dresses and stones and books and rituals and coughs and graves and ribbons and attics and walls; things like that. So that's all; for now. Subscribe to: ...

This Little Life: December 2011
http://wwwlindaannerawlinson.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Friday, 16 December 2011. And there we have it . Things achieved, Christmas shopping all done, house tidy, ready to be decorated with the kiddy-winks over the next few days (white paper snowflakes, anyone? Proofreading assignment finished and sent, getting back into reading properly (Dickens at the moment, a bit of festive grotesqueness with The Old Curiosity Shop. And relax. I don't know what I felt so blue about last week - I do annoy myself sometimes. Monday, 5 December 2011. D And I just can't get up...

This Little Life: June 2013
http://wwwlindaannerawlinson.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 9 June 2013. Not far, as it turns out. James is the scowliest. Some days he tells me that he hates me. He says it with a smile, but he really means it. He says it to shock me, but it never does. Saturday, 8 June 2013. Blogging from my phone? Let's give this a shot then. I have an app, I don't know how well it works, but let's do a little test and find out. And then you might as well go and eat chips on the prom, if you live near a prom. And while you're there you might as well have ice-cream.

From Austen to Woolf: January 2012
http://becomingwellread.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
From Austen to Woolf. Monday, 23 January 2012. I'm being more adventurous! I have stuck to reading one book at a time. That meant that I got lots of books finished because I wanted to move on to the next one quickly. I still think this is a good way of reading, and I'm kind of still sticking to it. Which was wonderful. I have now moved on to Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time. Which is completely different, though it deals with many of the same questions. I'm also reading The Old Curiosity Shop.

From Austen to Woolf: Inkheart, by Cornelia Funke
http://becomingwellread.blogspot.com/2011/07/inkheart-by-cornelia-funke.html
From Austen to Woolf. Monday, 11 July 2011. Inkheart, by Cornelia Funke. It was good. Very good in fact. I'd heard that it was good, but it was one of those that I'm afraid I felt a little snobby about - all I knew of it was that it had been made into a film starring Brendan Fraser, and that small fact set me against it a little bit. I suppose I imagined that I might end up reading something as time-wasting as California Man. The writing in Inkheart. Has a shifting perspective too, but it's done slightly...

This Little Life: Spring! Joyness!
http://wwwlindaannerawlinson.blogspot.com/2012/03/spring-joyness.html
Sunday, 25 March 2012. A new summer, and a new season of motivation? Well, we'll see. How many new beginnings do I have each year? I'd say at least four. And that's not counting all the other ones. I have a Noo Tattoo :) It's a biggie! I love it. It matches perfectly with everything else - a little bit of colour, and a little bit of detail, but still fitting in nicely. I'm very pleased with it. Not to everyone's taste of course, but we don't all want to be the same now, do we? Loads, I reckon. This blogg...

From Austen to Woolf: August 2011
http://becomingwellread.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
From Austen to Woolf. Wednesday, 24 August 2011. I'm working my way through this little 900 page story. Well, it's not really that big of a story, because it's three books in one, and I've read a few trilogies that are longer. I thought I'd just write a little about my initial impressions of it. This was my initial impression when I opened it at the first page of the first book, Titus Groan. This is what the blurb says on the back of the copy I have:. But anyhow, I'm carrying on with the book, because I ...

Wednesday, 8 August 2012. The Lilac Stripe Dress. Today, I have this to show you:. What do you think? This is the Lilac Stripe. Isn't she pretty? Sadly, Miss Lilac Stripe and Miss Black Stripe are a little short, as I didn't buy enough material :( And all of the dresses are rather tight in the bodice, because the pattern we used is a small fit. We expected size 14 (UK) to be just fine, but it looks like we needed just a cm or so extra. Not to worry - learning curve! I've also got this to show you:. I've ...

This Little Life: Sewing
http://wwwlindaannerawlinson.blogspot.com/2012/08/sewing.html
Monday, 6 August 2012. Only about six weeks to go until the Jane Austen festival in Bath, and I've only got one dress done. Cripes, eh? My mum has finished her six dresses - she's much faster than me, obviously. She's also sewn up two of my jackets, as well as finishing two hats of her own and a spencer and a couple of reticules. I wanted to do everything myself, but time was getting rather short! I didn't have the right shoes when we made this dress. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). This Is My Secret.
