本会は1992 年 平成 4 年 に、武庫川 猪名川流域を中心とした兵庫県南東部をホームフィールドとして発足しました。 1999 年 平成 11 年 に法人格を取得し、 特定非営利活動法人 野生生物を調査研究する会 という名称で活動しています。 1997 年 平成 9 年 から、兵庫県南東部で昭和 40 年代頃の里山を復活する取り組みとして、毎月第一日曜を定例活動に、整備、保全を進めています。 1997 年 平成 9 年 より、川西市黒川での教員対象のフィールド研修をきっかけに、毎年夏に幼小中学校の教員、2009 年から教育系の大学生も対象に、植物、昆虫、水辺の生き物などの自然観察の方法について、フィールド学習の基本とした特別セミナーを行っています。 2003 年 平成 15 年 より、JICAの草の根支援を受け、ブラジル国トメアス調査に基づき、環境教育のテキスト作成、環境教育の実践、そして世界に残された数少ない熱帯雨林を保全するインストラクターの養成と、未来の架け橋になる子どもちと アマゾン自然学校 プロジェクトを実施。 これまでに寄贈した本の数は 3 万 5000 冊になりました。
