wildlifeaylmerton

Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Thats it then, this web site is dead, it is deceased, it is no more! After 10 years of residence and nearly four years(! That my reports were reliable and gave a good account of real birding. I do leave with some great memories from this little parish, suffice to say that Aylmerton wasn't well known as a birding site prior to our arrival but, the next time there is a Honey Buzzard influx, I know where I'll be the following morning! Follow if you dare (or can be bothered).

wildlifeaylmerton: April 2009

http://wildlifeaylmerton.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 17, 2009. Flew west over fields mid morning. Thursday, April 16, 2009. Tuesday, April 07, 2009. A pre-work look in at West Runton cliff this morning produced a couple of 'First of the Spring for me in the form of at least 4 Sand Martin and a Wheatear, during a chilly and breezy 10 minutes. Monday, April 06, 2009. Hawking over the waters surface 'dip' feeding. Back in Aylmerton this evening 10 Fieldfare flew east over the house. Sunday, April 05, 2009. Cormorant - 6 E. The Cranes came on the...

wildlifeaylmerton: July 2009

http://wildlifeaylmerton.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 26, 2009. Ran the trap last night, and along with the usual suspects including Dunbar, Ruby Tiger and Scalloped Oak was my first ever Oak Eggar. An absolute cracker of a beast! I also had time to have a look at the micro's today, which made a change! A look at the weeds around the pond found several skipper butterflies, with Essex Skippers. Out numbering Small Skippers. Saturday, July 25, 2009. Although someone did claim a distant Redshank to be the bird as well! Saturday, July 11, 2009.

wildlifeaylmerton: Reconnaissance

http://wildlifeaylmerton.blogspot.com/2009/09/reconnaissance.html

Friday, September 18, 2009. After work I hit the coast line as close to our new house as is practicable, which took me to Trimingham. A look in the wood here held single Willow warbler along with Great Tit 2, Blue Tit, and Long-tailed Tit 2. Some great habitat here and one to keep an eye on. Walking along the cliff top had single Wheatear and best of all three fairly confiding Snow Bunting. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Parish Year List 2008-MOTHS. Parish Year List 2008-BIRDS. wildlifeaylmerton: February 2009

http://wildlifeaylmerton.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Giving good views from the kitchen window in the fog this morning. Sunday, February 15, 2009. With the weekend spent doing home improvements, the welcoming news of confirmation of a trip to Poland in April resulted in a more renewed effort to get stuff done before spring! At home we had a return of Siskin on the feeders (the first for a couple of years) along with Goldfinch and of course our Barn Owl. Thursday, February 12, 2009. Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Was it or wasn't it?

Australia 2006: Daintree, Far North Queensland

http://wildlifeaylmerton-australia.blogspot.com/2007/11/daintree-far-north-queensland.html

Friday, 2 November 2007. Daintree, Far North Queensland. Moving on today and heading north back up the coast. After saying goodbyes to Charlie, Cassie, Colin and co we set off for Cairns, which, like the trip down was fairly uneventful (lots of sugar cane fields! As we reach the outskirts of Cairns a grocery run at the first Coles supermarket produces the first Peaceful Doves. Continuing north we start to see a few more Black Kites. A single Black-shouldered Kite. And a new one, Dusky Honey-eater. Were s...

Australia 2006: Mission Beach and Great Barrier Reef

http://wildlifeaylmerton-australia.blogspot.com/2007/12/mission-beach-and-great-barrier-reef.html

Saturday, 3 November 2007. Mission Beach and Great Barrier Reef. Mostly travelling today, with a flight north from Brisbane to Cairns and then a drive down the coast to Mission Beach. The drive down was fairly uneventful although we did pick up Nankeen Kestrel, Cattle Egret. And first House Sparrows. Although we did have a pair of Orange-footed Scrubfowl. Cassowary, female 'Cassie'. Cassowary, male 'Charlie'. And juvenile, 'Colin'. And the stunning Ulleccess. Emerald Dove, Olive-backed Sunbird. Overhead&...

Australia 2006: Introduction

http://wildlifeaylmerton-australia.blogspot.com/2007/12/introduction.html

Sunday, 2 December 2007. After several months of pressure I finally succumbed to the families wishes to take a trip to Australia- the thought of the 24 hour trip there and back filled me with dread, due to the fact that I have never yet been able to successfully sleep on a plane! We decided to stay in south Queensland around Brisbane for a few days before flying north to Cairns and touring around Far North Queensland (FNQ) then flying out of Cairns for home. The itinerary was as follows:. View my complet...

Australia 2006: Brisbane

http://wildlifeaylmerton-australia.blogspot.com/2007/11/birding-queensland-down-under-with.html

Wednesday, 28 November 2007. Fly to Brisbane via Singapore. The dreaded flight really wasn’t half as bad as I had expected with 12 hrs to Singapore then 6hrs onto Brisbane. We had a four hour break in Singapore, arriving at dusk I could only manage Cattle Egret. From the terminal. We did take the opportunity to shower at the airport with tea and biscuits afterwards for about £4 all in. And Australian Magpie Lark. The later invading and near destroying the bird table! After dispatching cases and bags, and...
