Wild Australian Art

Wednesday, December 11, 2013. There's a lot of work left to do, but I'm a little happier now that the lion has been partially incorporated into his surroundings. Overall, the colour of the lion is still a little cool, but I'm warming things up as I revisit and refine each area. I have some spare masonite on hand, and I plan to step back from this painting and put in some practice before I return to it next week. Tuesday, December 3, 2013. Thursday, November 28, 2013. After I'd contemplated tackling this ...

Wild Australian Art: What Have I Been Up To?

http://wildozart.blogspot.com/2013/03/what-have-i-been-up-to.html

Sunday, March 17, 2013. What Have I Been Up To? I feel torn between my hobbies at times, and for the past few months art has taken a back seat as I strive to make progress on some guitars, including the one pictured below, which I finally strung up yesterday. This guitar is destined for Tiani. A young local musician, and the daughter of a family friend. Some other recent instruments are pictured below. You can check out my guitar building adventures here. If you're so inclined. Wow, these are lovely!

Wild Australian Art: November 2012

http://wildozart.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Late Nights and Lost Weekends. After enrolling in a science degree mid-year, I've spent the past three months at university on an emotional roller-coaster ride, hanging on for grim death! To stick with the roller-coaster analogy, I've experienced sheer terror, blind panic and adrenalin-fuelled excitement - sometimes within the space of a single day - and have wondered at times whether my tired old brain and my tired old body are up to the task. Wild Australian Art: On the Home Stretch

http://wildozart.blogspot.com/2012/05/on-home-stretch.html

Sunday, May 6, 2012. On the Home Stretch. All that remains is to sift through my photographs of Black-Footed Rock Wallabies to find one that suits this scene. The photo that prompted this painting includes a wallaby, but I think there are better poses to choose from among my other photos. Scott D. Tillett said. Looking great as usual Pete. May 12, 2012 at 5:31 AM. Thanks Scott. At this stage, Im still searching through my photographs looking for a wallaby to fill the lead role! May 12, 2012 at 7:37 AM.

Wild Australian Art: November 2013

http://wildozart.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 28, 2013. We came across two young male lions late one morning as we continued our exploration of Botswana's Central Kalahari Game Reserve in September. Unlike the older lions we happened upon, these younger lions seemed less comfortable in the presence of our vehicle and, after we'd observed them for a short while, they casually moved off, presumably in search of some tourist-free solitude. Monday, March 26, 2012. Here is my painting that just won the Maryland Black Bear Conservation Stamp Competition. I believe this is the 3rd time I've tried, so am really tickled that I won this year. The stamp design is a 7 x 10 and is done with Holbein waterbased oil paints. I love those paints! Links to this post.
