My Life as a Beginning Iowa Farmer at Wild Rose Pastures: School's Out For Summer
http://beginningiowafarmer.blogspot.com/2015/06/schools-out-for-summer.html
Wednesday, June 3, 2015. School's Out For Summer. We are now halfway through the second week of having both kids at home. Between the kids, the farm, and the house, I am pretty darn tired. It some ways it is fun to have them both home, like when we go outside and play on the tractor. Other times it is pretty suffocating, like when Daddy is just trying to get all 100 Serviceberry. Trees planted (I am only half way there). I make it work though and the kids do spend much of their time outside being kids.

My Life as a Beginning Iowa Farmer at Wild Rose Pastures: November 2014
http://beginningiowafarmer.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 4, 2014. Busy is too simple a word to describe how we have been recently. It has been more then a month since my last post, but we have been hurtling toward some large deadlines and that has taken most of my faculties to keep on top of. I will discuss them soon in another post. Herding the Turkeys inside. A Panoramic Shot of the Turkeys inside the Lean-to. There is always a part of me that misses the turkeys. They form a bond with me since I have cared for them since they were pulle...

My Life as a Beginning Iowa Farmer at Wild Rose Pastures: Let There Be House
http://beginningiowafarmer.blogspot.com/2015/01/let-there-be-house.html
Saturday, January 31, 2015. Let There Be House. We had an extremely mild January. This allowed us to go from piles of lumber to an almost fully put together structure in less than two-and-a-half weeks. November's weather was so cold that we were very concerned about how any progress was going to get made on the house. But three mild weeks has made a big difference. Sheeting Going On the House. Windows and Doors Going In. Cattle Eating Hay out of Two New Hay Rings. Leaky Control Valve Block. The kids cont...

My Life as a Beginning Iowa Farmer at Wild Rose Pastures: Getting Ready for Spring
http://beginningiowafarmer.blogspot.com/2015/03/getting-ready-for-spring.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Getting Ready for Spring. First Calf of 2015. The tractor has been back on the farm for some time. I burned out the auxiliary hydraulic motor in the middle of winter and had to have that replaced. I finally got around to replacing the bucket on the tractor with the bale spear. Since it was the first time making the switch and using that spear with this tractor, it took a lot finagling, but two-and-a-half hours later it was done. Bale Spear Finally on the Tractor. Stay tuned as we...

Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Summer Routine and Happenings. We have not sold the house yet. We have had several productive showings, but nobody has put in an offer yet. It is hard to plan for what this production season might look like or how long it might take before we get to work on actually moving livestock out to the new place. The uncertainty about things is really wearing on both of Janice and I. Supervising a Cattle Move. New Chicken Pen on Pasture. Excited about Baby Turkeys. Turkey Pullets at Play.
