Day 1 Begin - Niantic. Day 9 and Day 10. Tupelo MS to French Camp MS. Today the crew had a perfect day for riding. No rain, temps around 70 degrees and we were on a great road, the Natchez Trace 1500K Trace. We had never heard of the Natchez Trace Parkway until a fellow cyclist Wayne Cernak mentioned a cycling event on the Trace to us. We were able to incorporate 300 miles of the parkway into our route. What a sweet road this is too. Hundreds of trees wiped out. 2370 Feet of Climbing.

Day 1 Begin - Niantic. Day 9 and Day 10. Florence AL to Florence AL. We stalled for an extra half hour before we dressed into our cycling garb. All dressed bikes packed we took another look at the radar. A huge thunderstorm was directly in our path. Having already been rained on more than we wanted last week, the decision was made to toss in the towel. Day 1 Begin - Niantic. Day 9 and Day 10. Bear Mountain NY to Chester NJ. It rained hard Wednesday night and we woke to “moist” road conditions and a thick fog. Lucky for us our route was on a road with no traffic at all. The fog slowly turned into a steady rain and we took cover under an overpass for about 20 minutes. Day 1 Begin - Niantic. Day 9 and Day 10. Confluence, PA to Fairmont, WV. The house owner from the B&B arrived around 8am and cooked us a large omelet as we got our still wet gear together. We had parked our wet bicycles in her garage the night before. The small ponds of water that dripped from each bike had nearly dried. Our shoes had not. To a cyclist “rain” is a four letter word.
