I think, therefore I cycle. Plym Valley and Drakes Trail. Monday, 13 July 2015. As regular followers will know, I ride a B'Twin Triban 500 road bike. B'Twin is the house brand of French chain Decathlon and while it's a cheap bike, overall I'm very happy with it. Besides, it seems to climb hills better than a few hideously expensive carbon-framed bikes I've encountered out on the road. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Say no more. I've mostly been riding on the Mavic wheels, but recently I had the rear rim faile...

WillCycle: Exmouth Exodus 2014

http://willcycle.blogspot.com/2014/08/exmouth-exodus-2014.html

I think, therefore I cycle. Plym Valley and Drakes Trail. Tuesday, 19 August 2014. I'll admit it freely: I do like cycling in the dark and I do like through-the-night bike rides, so it's no wonder I signed up to ride the Exmouth Exodus. For those that don't know, the Exodus is a 108-mile ride that starts in Bath (it used to start in Bristol) and ends in Exmouth. It is loosely modelled on the Dunwich Dynamo, the through-the-night ride that started it all. There were a few other cyclists catching the same ...

WillCycle: Walkham Viaduct

http://willcycle.blogspot.com/2010/12/walkham-viaduct.html

I think, therefore I cycle. Plym Valley and Drakes Trail. Thursday, 30 December 2010. For those of you not fortunate enough to live in a narrow strip of land sandwiched between the coast and Dartmoor, with NCN route 27 passing less than half a mile from your front door, the Walkham is a river that gave it's name to the village of Walkhampton. They simply built impressive viaducts across them! The picture above doesn't do the viaduct justice: it was enormous. Tracts of land that used to be part of the rai...

WillCycle: Old posters

http://willcycle.blogspot.com/2010/08/old-posters.html

I think, therefore I cycle. Plym Valley and Drakes Trail. Thursday, 19 August 2010. At Whitsand Bay, just outside Plymouth and across the Tamar in Cornwall, there is a little holiday resort where you can rent chalets, or pitch a tent. In the shop there are a few old. Bicycle posters, so I snapped a few photos (amidst bizarre looks from the lady behind the cash register! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). WillCycle: Devon and Cornwall Police - Episode 2

http://willcycle.blogspot.com/2015/05/devon-and-cornwall-police-episode-2.html

I think, therefore I cycle. Plym Valley and Drakes Trail. Tuesday, 12 May 2015. Devon and Cornwall Police - Episode 2. Back in March 2015 I posted an open letter to the Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police. Asking some rather pointed questions about the lack of support cyclists receive from the force. Before reading the rest of this post, I really suggest you read that post first, as this is a follow-up. In that post I asked 6 specific questions:. 7) What will YOU do about this? I have tried to r...

Middle Age Cyclist: July 2012

http://middleagecyclist.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

The ramblings of a Manchester cyclist. Thursday, 12 July 2012. So, I was cycling home after the last of three very busy, long days at work (and I mean longs days of 13.5 hrs! Looking forward to seeing my wife and having a wee dram. The weather was dry and warm, the traffic was very light and it was still daylight despite the time of 21.00hrs. I was wearing a bright red cycling jersey and had my lights on. What could go wrong? I shouted in a Victor Meldrew type way. "How could you not see me? By now peopl...

Middle Age Cyclist: February 2013

http://middleagecyclist.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

The ramblings of a Manchester cyclist. Monday, 4 February 2013. LEL Prep - Weeks 3-5. So my wife collected me from a pub a few whiskys later. The next day I hobbled into work (A&E) and got an XR of the leg. No bony changes found - PHEW! The pain also changed in nature and became more of a band like pain down the outer thigh so probably muscular in origin. Painkillers helped and within 3 days I was walking almost normally. I didn't ride the bike for 5 days though! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Cycle A 2 B.

Hats off to you for entering the LEL, 2 months ago I was certain that I would be too, but doubt set in just before Christmas and I simply chickened out! Good luck with the training. 28 January 2013 at 16:42:00 GMT.
