The Grape Grower's Handbook: Vineyard Site Selection

http://www.wine-grape-growing.com/wine_grape_growing/vineyard_site_selection/vineyard_site_selection_climatic_components.htm

Diurnal temperature variation is the difference between the highest temperature of the day and the lowest temperature of the night. Warmer temperatures in general tend to produce more consistent grape harvests. The heat also hastens ripening, producing grapes with bolder flavors, more sugar, and wine with more alcohol and short on taste and aroma. Humidity and relative saturation deficit may play a major role in fruit quality. Very high and very low humidity can adversely influence grape development.

The Grape Grower's Handbook: Annual Growth Cycle of the Grapevine

http://www.wine-grape-growing.com/wine_grape_growing/grapevine_growth/grapevine_budburst.htm

Annual Growth Cycle of the Grapevine. As shoots grow during the growing season, buds form in the axil of the leaf (at the base of the petiole). The single bud that develops in this area is described in botanical terms as an axillary bud or more commonly referred to as the lateral bud. Lateral buds may differentiate into shoots during the year they are produced, but more commonly they may remain dormant. Shoots developing from lateral buds are termed lateral (summer) shoots. Pruning and Training Grapevines.

The Grape Grower's Handbook: Wine Grape Rootstocks

http://www.wine-grape-growing.com/wine_grape_growing/wine_grape_rootstocks/wine_grape_rootstocks_species.htm

Most rootstocks are either native North American species or hybrids of two or more of these species, including Vitis riparia, Vitis berlandieri, and Vitis rupestris. The North American species commonly used for grafting grapevines are Vitis rupestris, V. riparia, V. berlandieri, and V. champini. V rupestris roots deeply, has a long growing season with vigorous growth, so it has often been selected for use in warmer, long season regions. V riparia X V. rupestris. Rootstocks derived from these crosses pref...

The Grape Grower's Handbook: Annual Growth Cycle of the Grapevine

http://www.wine-grape-growing.com/wine_grape_growing/grapevine_growth/grapevine_structure_function.htm

Annual Growth Cycle of the Grapevine. Grapevine Structure and Function. The trunk is the main stem, without the branches. Cordons are extensions of the trunk that usually grow horizontally as they are trained along a wire. Cordons can extend from the trunk in either one or two directions called unilateral or bilateral. Fully developed, cordons can bear arms, spurs, base shoots and canes. Flower clusters grow opposite leaves along the shoot. Most shoots develop one to three flower clusters; the name d...

The market for beer in the U.S. consists of essentially the following ten segments (see Table 1.4): imports, domestic specialties, super-premium, premium regular, light, ice, maltalternatives, malt liquor, popular regular, and others. Table 1.5 lists popular brands by each segment. Although growth in domestic beer segment has been relatively flat except for light beer, the domestic specialty segment has shown strong double-digit growth that should continue in the foreseeable future. The Brewer's Handbook: U.S. Beer Industry

http://www.beer-brewing.com/beer_brewing/US_beer_industry/beer_industry_concentration.htm

Beer prior to World War II was distributed to wholesalers and then to retailers within an extremely limited geographic region, by today's standards. Beer was a relatively expensive product to transport considering its value, so any brewers wishing to expand their sales area had to consider freight costs in shipping to other markets. Another behavior employed by the big brewers was price wars, especially in the 1970s. Click on the following topics for more information on U.S. beer industry.

Greenhouse Management: A Guide to Greenhouse Technology and Operations

http://greenhouse-management.com/greenhouse_management/greenhouse_heating/greenhouse_heat_loss_gain.htm

Basics of Greenhouse Heat Loss and Gain. Another mode of heat loss is air infiltration. Heat loss by air infiltration depends on the age, condition and type of greenhouse. Older greenhouses or those in poor condition generally have cracks around doors or holes in covering material through which large amounts of cold air may enter. The greenhouse ventilation system also has a large effect on infiltration. Click on the following topics for more information on greenhouse heating. Terms of Use Agreement.
