We focus on finding new genetic causes of Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia. Our goal is to find and fight the causes of these illnesses. To do this, we have 3 main focuses:. Young-onset Alzheimer’s Disease Genetics. Our work has shown that the remaining 90% also have a strong genetic basis, and the evidence suggests one possible reason is that AD may often be inherited as a. Is a genetics laboratory at the Atlanta Veterans Administration. And Emory Unversity's Center for Neurodegenerative Disease. Led by Thomas Wingo. We study the genetic basis of Alzheimer's Disease. And we are particularly interested in family-based studies and young-onset (also called early-onset) Alzheimer's disease. We use a combination of next-generation genetic sequencing. Our work is supported by the Veterans Administration, the National Institutes of Health, and Emory University.
