Winterton Bird Spotting Collective: 16th April 2013

http://wintertonbirds.blogspot.com/2013/04/16th-april-2013.html

Tuesday, 16 April 2013. Well, if I'm putting on a post it can only mean one thing - another Winterton tick. This time it was a lovely Purple Heron. Inadvertently flushed from the Toad Pools on the North Dunes. Sadly it made off to the south west where it no doubt found the vast expanses of Reed much more to its liking. Also two Ring Ouzels. And a Yellow Wagtail. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tim's Winterton Migration Lists. Great Yarmouth Bird Club - recent records. East Norfolk Ringing Group.

Friday, 26 April 2013. A flabbergasting number of Wheatears. Have made landfall today all along the east Suffolk and Norfolk coast. In an hour this evening in the North Dunes I counted over 100, between the totem pole bushes and the top of the Warren. Most were sitting absolutely still, dotting the landscape wherever you looked. They flew strongly on approach though, so I don't think they are overly exhausted. Two Curlews. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tim's Winterton Migration Lists. Peregrine Fal...

Mostly Happisburgh, Mostly Birds...: February 2010

http://mostlyhappisburgh2010.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Mostly Happisburgh, Mostly Birds. This website is best viewed using Firefox v.3. It's been a horrendously wet day, quite unpleasant when I walked Ossie out. I had to drive past Walcott just after noon and there, on the seawall, sat the adult Mediterranean Gull now beginning to show quite an extensive black hood. I walked Ossie along the lane early afternoon and the occasional sunshine, coupled with a milder feel to the air than of late, had inspired both Greenfinch and a Skylark to songflight. Common Buz...

Mostly Happisburgh, Mostly Birds...: January 2010

http://mostlyhappisburgh2010.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Mostly Happisburgh, Mostly Birds. This website is best viewed using Firefox v.3. Opening the curtains this morning it became apparent that overnight we had returned to a snowy landscape once again. It wasn't laying too deep so will hopefully not last too long and when the sun broke out during the morning I became aware of the dripping sounds of thawing. Out of the chill breeze the sun had some warmth and early this afternoon I came across two Little Owls obviously making the most of it. Having missed the...

Birding Copenhagen: March 2010

http://terry-birdingcopenhagen.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Notes from a Brit living and birding in Copenhagen. Monday, 29 March 2010. A late afternoon foray. Resulted in 3 adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls (pretty much summer migrants here), 2 migrating Cranes and 250 Greater Scaup still at the northern tip of Amager. Oh, and a puncture on my bike thanks to a discarded piece of barbed wire (I could hear the hiss as my front tyre deflated in about 10 seconds resulting in a long walk home! Saturday, 27 March 2010. Mostly Happisburgh, Mostly Birds...: June 2010

http://mostlyhappisburgh2010.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Mostly Happisburgh, Mostly Birds. This website is best viewed using Firefox v.3. This evening was warm and fine and as I put some rubbish out I became aware that the local Swallows and House Martins had assembled high over the houses, many giving agitated alarm calls. Within seconds the slim form of a Hobby appeared overhead but it seemed disinterested and continued northwards, the Sand Martin colony along the cliffs probably it's intended destination.
