Inane ramblings on birds, birding and er, well...things that fly!

Inane ramblings on birds, birding and er, well.things that fly! Wednesday, 13 March 2013. A couple of video clips from during the winter - the charismatic Snow Buntings at Kinmel Bay and the confiding Great Northern Diver at Wigan Flashes which sadly passed away. Monday, 11 March 2013. Wild and Windy Somerset. At nearby Catcott Lows I spotted this confiding Water Pipit in front of the hide and another Great White Egret was here. I didn't stay for the Starling roost - way too cold! Sunday, 18 November 2012.

Inane ramblings on ringing, birds, birding and er, well.things that fly! Wednesday, 30 November 2011. What a big, stunning bird this is. Tuesday, 29 November 2011. European White-fronted Geese and Tree Sparrow at Aldcliffe Marsh. I briefly called in at Morecambe on the way back to the van, stopping off at Broadway. 23 Eiders, 2 Goldeneyes, 2 Great Crested Grebes and 9 Red-breasted Mergansers were on the sea. Inane ramblings on ringing, birds, birding and er, well.things that fly! Sunday, 18 November 2012. The proverbial wild goose chase. Barnacle Geese, my favourite geese, at Anthorn, Cumbria. Avocets and Black-tailed Godwits, Frodsham Marsh. Curlew Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper and Dipper, Pennington Flash. Was the Kestrel ill or just being dozy? There were probably more but the light was failing rapidly by then. HGF this morning was pretty much as was. The current line up is:. 27 Great Crested Grebe. The bird was a juvenile and didn’t do...

Inane ramblings on ringing, birds, birding and er, well...things that fly!: January 2012

http://winwickbirder.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Inane ramblings on ringing, birds, birding and er, well.things that fly! Tuesday, 31 January 2012. On my travels once again. Lesser Scaup and Bewick's Swans, Slimbridge. Fourth winter Iceland Gull, Stubbers Green. Anyway in the south field were 32 Grey Partridges (3 coveys) and a Skylark. I pointed out that so do Chiffchaffs and that this bird didn’t have any wing bars. They were still optimistic though and continued to discuss the supercilium long after this second Chiffchaff had flown off&#46...Having ...
