They say Home is where the heart is, I guess that's why it hurts so bad. I’m not sure of how long it takes for a human to accommodate to the pain of loss, the pain of war. I’m not sure it ever happens. 5 years, and my throat tightens as much as when I first realized that it was war in Syria. But, when you hear the word “war”, all you picture is chaos.
